Please save my iPod!!!

I am having the exact same problem, except my iPod is 60 GB.

I plugged it in to update the music, and iTunes would not recognize it. :bummer:

So I went to My Documents, but it is showing up as an Apple iPod there. I tried restoring it as well as the 5 Apple 'R’s but still nothing.

The message is always the same in iTunes. iPod is corrupt and needs to be restored. Select ‘Restore’ to bring back the original factory settings. I do that and it says it cannot locate the necessary iPod software.

I went onto the Apple forums and it seems like there are thousands of people having the same issue. At one point, last night my iPod went completely dead … but I got frustrated and slammed it on my bed and it came back to life. :halo: Anyway, it was having issues before I beat the iPod up.

I seriously need this fixed by Friday, otherwise I am royally screwed. :frowning:

Re: Please save my iPod!!!

give it to me, and it is saved. :smokin: or else I will report you to NSPCI (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to iPod)

Re: Please save my iPod!!!

Re: Please save my iPod!!!

ok so when ihad this problem iwas using an extended usb connector thing so i when i connected it directly to the computer it worked out fine;

Re: Please save my iPod!!!

does it show up as removeable drive in my computer?

Re: Please save my iPod!!!

Well I've been trying for four bloody days now.

I uninstalled it. Reinstalled it. Tried again. Didn't work. Completed deleted it off my computer. Tried again. Didn't work. Decided I would copy whatever was in my iTunes and resave it in a new file. Did all sorts of cleaning, iPod cleaning using "Bye Tunes", Windows Registry Cleaner, etc., still did not work. Uninstalled QuickTime in case that was causing the problems. Didn't work. Reinstalled QuickTime seperately and then iTunes. Didn't work. Checked the registry to see if there was anything wonky going on in there. Did a chkdisk or whatever command that is, and everything was fine. I event went into Disk Mode into my actual iPod which was nerve racking ... but it was all o.k. I got all these suggestions off of the Apple website. Seriously, they suck!

Anyway, yesterday, FINALLY, my iPod was no longer showing up as corrupt and it was being recognized by iTunes. Hard drive was showing up as healthy when I did the check. I had a full 56 GB of space on my iPod.

So I said, o.k. stuff iTunes, let me try YamiPod or Floola instead. Of course, it did not work.

I then completely deleted the iTunes library and every single iTunes folder off my computer. Did a search for anything iTunes or iPod related and deleted it.

I then had to reinstall iTunes AGAIN and load my music into it. This time, I loaded 20 songs at a time instead of my 1117 songs. Lo and behold, my iPod recognized it and started transferring the songs.

It's a real pain in the behind though cause I can only transfer 20 songs at a time, otherwise iTunes crashes my entire computer. It used to just upload new songs straight away. Now I need to treat iTunes like a delicate newborn in order for it to work.

Well, it only worked this morning. Let's see if it works this evening when I get home.

Re: Please save my iPod!!!

Sounds like a similiar i had with Sony NWHD!!!

Re: Please save my iPod!!!

Had the same problem with my iPod when I had it. Sometimes iTune wudnt recognize my iPod so I used to try it again and like 3rd time, it would. Then after few months it stopped working (the warranty was over by that time too). Everytime I turned on my iPod, it would show that folder icon or this other icon. So then I sold for $70 :phati:…Gonna buy 80GB soon

Re: Please save my iPod!!!

ive gone thru this too.... basically my brother's cpu has usb outlets at the front n the back... once i plugged it into his to the outlet at the front n bang... my ipod died! the day after he got me a new one since i had the warranty.. n guess what, i ws fidgety enough to WANT to know if that ws the reason it had died.... and SOOO i went ahead n plugged it to the front again. n the poor thing died AGAIN!

eitherways..... went back, got a new one! n i used to hav the one with that itrip thing to it... when it died, they gave me a nano instead, since i guess the one i had had gone obsolete.. and yeah that reminds me..... is there any current itrip type accessories available that can be used w/ the nano???

Re: Please save my iPod!!!

Now my battery is on it’s last breath. :bummer: The warning sign has come up that it needs to be replaced soon.

So, is it easy to get a new battery for an iPod? Of course not.

No store carries iPod batteries here. I called customer support and they told me either I enter an agreement with them where I pay them$35 to get SUPPORT OVER THE PHONE, or they will just point me to the website that will explain what needs to be done.

I’ve had my iPod for 2 years. So, I guess it is about time I get a new battery.

sigh

So, I have to mail them my iPod. They will replace it and mail it back to me. I cannot simply just buy it and do it myself. I could have them mail the battery to me. Either way, it costs a lot.

I will go to the Apple store tomorrow to see if, by chance, they have batteries. I was told they do not carry them. :frowning:

It is just not in my kismet to have my iPod up and running.

Re: Please save my iPod!!!

Its not only you. My friend had the same problem. He had iPod 20 GB (not the color one). He had few more weeks until the warranty expired so he sent it to Apple for repair etc. He got it back but the problem was still there. This happened like 2-3 times. Jab uss ne thora ghussa dikhaya, they replaces his ipod with a 30GB color ipod which he sold for $250 without even using it. If your warranty expires, then it becomes kinda hard and expensive to get the iPod repaired. Don’t know what’s the exact amount since I just sold mines without get it fixed.

How much did they say they’ll charge you (in total)?

Re: Please save my iPod!!!

Nevertheless, you are a still a weirdo Mal1k. :p

Well Hum_Hain_Lajawab, it's going to cost $70 plus shipping and handling. That is if I go through the Apple website. I'm going to go to the store later today and see what they say, if they can change it on site. I highly doubt they will.

Re: Please save my iPod!!!

Hayeeeeeeeeeee. I suggest u buy something useful...An external 80 GB hard drive, that costs a lot more less, & use it meaningfully...u can store vids, data, heck even ur chicken soup documents, & not have to worry about anything.

Re: Please save my iPod!!!

Well, I was wrong. They will give me a refurbished one on site. If I mail it in, they will mail me a refurbished one. Either way, I will get a refurbished iPod.

Hmm ...
