One of Pakistan’s foremost painters, Zahoorul Akhlaaq and his daughter, kathak dancer par excellence, Jahan Ara Akhlaaq were shot to death in an incident in Lahore recently.
Jahan Ara’s fiance and another gentleman professor from the National College of Arts have been critically injured.
Those of you that read the post on Tabla in the Shor Sharaba forum will remember my story of an evening at Jahan Ara’s place last summer.
I am still trying to come to grips with the loss this world is facing today.

I too was shocked just like you to know about the sad demise of Prof. Zahoor and his daughter ,because he was my professor at the National college of arts Lahore .May his soul rest in peace .I was also disturbed by the wounds inflikted by Prof . Saeed Akhter .What a wonderful person he was ..his teaching of miniature and islamic arts had a tremendous effect on our design and inputs in the projects.
It is so sad that we lost him at the peak of his careear , he could have contributed so much and so many of the students would have benefitted from his knowledge.

Was it a terrorism act or a scene of vendetta. Anyway, one has to be really sick to shoot a human being! We r in the 21st century and still so uncivilized. God bless humans!
Jahan Ara Yes i remember her . last year when she was here at Liaqat memoerial hall with Nahid Sidiqi ... (thu it took me long to recall her laykin yeh meri memory ka qosoor hay)
