I can understand how worrying it is when a family member whose salvation you so much worry about does not seem to be religious. However you must understand that each individual has a unique relationship with God. Some people are very spiritual but not at all religious. Others may be very religious(performing all the rituals regularly, whether its namaaz, roza etc) but not spiritual at all. Then there are those whose only ibaadat is khidmat-e-khalq. Who are we to judge whether Allah will punish a man or not if he misses his religious duties. Thats for God to decide. Connection with God can happen at many levels in different ways. Just because your dad is not religious does not mean that its is huge matter as u describe. Hidaayat eventually comes from Allah. Its between Him and your dad. However ic could also be that all your father needs are prayers. Pray ke Allah hidaayat dey InshAllah.
Also play Surat Rehman in the house daily within your dad's ear-shot. it is said to have a profound effect on the hearer in becoming closer to God.
