Please help me!

I’m not sure if anyone else has been through this but any advice would be much appreciated! My son is 3.5 months old and he was never really a bad sleeper. He was slowly starting to sleep though the night (11 pm-6:30 am), but all of a sudden like a week ago everything changed and he is waking up almost every hour! He refuses to sleep in his crib and I am desperate for sleep so I end up putting him in bed with us. He will sleep there for a few hours but is still fussy. I really did not want to put him in bed with us b/c i hear it is hard to get them out. Also, I’ve noticed that he is scratching his head like crazy, which might have something to do with it. I’ve been putting baby oil and vaseline on his head morning and night but it doesn’t seem to be helping. I took him to the doctor and she said that it might be eczema but the ointment she prescribed is not working either. I’m not sure if it’s the itchiness that is making him fussy or maybe he is teething b/c he keeps putting his fingers in his mouth.

Please help me, he is very cranky and is hardly sleeping which means no sleep/rest for me!

Re: Please help me!

Give him a warm bath before sleeping. That may help. Maybe he needs more milk before sleeping so he isn't hungry.

Re: Please help me!

All I can say is hang in there!
Babies are unpredictable and difficult. My daughter used to sleep pretty well too till she was about 4 months old. Her sleep schedule was like sleep from 12 till 5, wake up for a feeding, then sleep till 7, nurse again and then sleep till 9. Once she was 4 months old, she started waking up more frequently. Today she's 13 months old and wakes up every 1 -2 hours at night. I"m still trying to figure out how to make her sleep better.

I hope someone can give you better advice.

Re: Please help me!

Use some baby oil i.n his bath before bedtime.

Re: Please help me!

baths, baby oils., massages, consistent routines ... nothing ever works on my baby. I Hope they work on yours though.

Re: Please help me!

When my daughter scratches her head and combined with frequent night wakings like that and drooling, its usually teething going on for her. That being said, your son is still pretty young to start getting teeth although its not unheard of. Also, have you gotten him checked out to rule out anything else like an ear infection? Try giving him tylenol or motrin and see if that helps.

I know what you mean, my 1 yr old is also waking up every 1.5 hour at night for the past week and i am going to get her to the doc to rule out an ear infection.
