here here... and we thought it would be closed down because its commentary often borders on sensationalism which under such circumstances does more harm than good for the country. They cry hoarse about azadi-e-sahafat and media but they MUST acknowledge where they falter. I am equally apalled at the way Dr. Shahid Masood came on teh TV and presented his side of the argument. I mean everyone who has some knowledge of our government or its agencies knew and know what could have gone wrong when he left ARY. There is no need to get back or for that matter vomit out all the intricate details of what goes on between Mush and Boucher or Chenney and Mush for that matter just 'cuz he was asked to 'tone down.'
Number of conspiracy theories have been circulating in this regard,
1) Geo having orchesterated the entire drama ( one must bear in mind that they only stand to gain by such heroic acts as in being dragged by the police or getting locked up for sometime)
2) Musharraf or one of his stooges might have ordered the attack and realizing in the nick of time that this might cause international uproar, they offered apologies within no time as a damage control tactic.
How can GEO orchestrate the drama? Did they pay the police officers? Policemen were not fake, their faces were shown on TV, if they were fake how does government say that they have suspended 14 and Musharraf says, the inspector is missing.

knowing who someone is is very different than knowing his whereabouts. lets use an example, US knows who OBL is and that he was behind the attacks, but they dont know his exact whereabouts. same for this inspector..knowing who he is dunn do much until u catch him.
commenting only on the last video, i think the police showed extreme restraint otherwise not one of these lawyers would have come out unscathed. Pakistani Police ka laThi charge bohat zalim hota hae, i have seen it many a times during my student life. These lawyers should consider themselves lucky.

It's a simple case of arrogance, the belief that there are no consequences of ones actions...and thats the attitude of the government right now. It's not the polices fault really, dead Baloch, disappearing citizens and dead Waziris, dead jawans and no inquiry or fault placed. All of that eventually creates a culture of impunity which the police are just following.
It again comes back to what I have said for quite sometime now, Pakistans greatest problem is not financial corruption (which is a terrible scourge) but it is the corruption of power. Corruption of money impoverishes countries like it did in the late 80's and 1990's, but corruption of power destroys countries like was done in 1971.
