As we all know that Balochistan is suffering from historically high floods. There is a severe shortage of drinking water and medicine. I am in touch people on the ground. I’ll soon post the address and bank account number where any one can donate.

I realize that all ears are busy with Mullahtic shenanigans in Islamabad.

However please please please do not forget your brother in Balochistan. Here is an announcement from Dr. Nasir Shah.

The Balochistan University of Engineering and Technology is working for flood releif. Unfortunately the non-coastal areas like Naal, Lhal Magsi etc have not received enough food and medicines. A team of 72 doctors is ready to go in, but they don't have medicines. Therefore I am sending to you this list of medicines. You can contribute in many different ways.

Purchase medicines and bring t them to Fatima Memorial Hospital from where they will be picked up.
You can send the medicines directly to Khuzdar, University of Engineering and Technology.
Send pay order of draft to A/C number 010-9087-7, UBL Khuzdar branch, Branch code 1357. This is my account opened for transactions from FMH. The balance sheets and transaction will be produced on monthly basis for audit purposes. I know this is not the ideal way, but it was the fastest way to open an account.

Did the funds reach the victims of earthquake? The presence of orphans in Lal masjid make you believe otherwise. There doesn't seem to be any transparency to the funds that are sent.

not very.. logistics are quite poor and coverage of whats happened has been limited because of whats going in Isloo.

the groups I worked with, every single penny reached the needy.
doctors and other workers flew on theri own dime, and took suitcases worth of medicines and supplies from here. I have no reason to doubt them.

as far as orphans go, first of all not all kids in lal amsjid are orphans, also there are orphans all over the country, I have posted info on it before. and lastly if an orphan was placed under teh acre of his uncle who then decided to put him in jamiya faridia or hafsa if teh orphan was a girl, then what can you do?

this is not to say there are no orphans in lal masjid did not get any support..whether because they were already moved and not on other gaencies radars or whether because the process was faulty.

On the topic of faulty process.. tehre were issues getting aid to katrina victims in US, with all the technology resources and all, here we are talkign Pakistan.

in summary- my view is give what you can, give through trusted sources, give with a pure heart, if croosk in between embezzle it, then it is between them and Allah.. but do your due diligence on which groups you give the money to.

President’s fund for flood relief set up

                   President General Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday announced establishment of “President’s Relief Fund for Flood Victims.” The fund has been established to alleviate the sufferings of the flood affected people. President Musharraf has appealed to Pakistanis living in the country and abroad to generously donate to the fund, to alleviate the sufferings of flood affected people.

** Donations to the fund can be deposited at all the branches of State Bank of Pakistan, all treasuries and branches of National Bank of Pakistan and all other scheduled banks, including Habib Bank Limited, United Bank Limited, Muslim Commercial Bank Limited, Allied Bank Limited and their branches abroad, in Pak rupee as well as in foreign currency.

In countries, where the branches of aforementioned banks do not exist, contributions can be made at respective Pakistani missions. **

President Musharraf has expressed the hope that by the grace of Allah Almighty, the challenging situation would be transformed into an opportunity to provide better quality of life to the flood affected people.
