Please Define the word "Heritage"

I’ve come across some different interpretations of the word…I’d like to know what our members think this world means to them…

Heritage is inheritance that does not involve one getting any money

Heritage is like an expensive gift that looks hideous. Something that you keep and cherish, yet never use.

We cherish, respect, and guard our heritage with whatever resources we have…yet never use it, or practice it, depending on what form of heritage we are talking about.

Heritage comes in so many different shapes and forms. Customs, traditions, buildings, novelty items…etc. Whenever one talks about them, they do so in the past tense. “We used to…”, or “This building used to be…”

I dont know if I have answered your question in anyway, but I would like to add something to it. How old does something have to be in order to call it a part of heritage? I might be wrong, and age might not have anything to do with heritage at all for some, but what if it does? How much time would you give?

In addition to what Akif has stated, Heritage can also be patrimony, or habits that one adopts from one’s parents and ancestors. For example, in some people, a certain style of humor can be that person’s heritage. Musicians, etc. etc.

Heritage is the collective inheritance of a group of people.

I agree with above with the addition that these ppl have been living in a particular area persistently which separates them from other areas. Its their Identity basically.
