PlayStation 4 coming to Japan February 22nd, three months after US launch

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/09/ps4-japan-date-price.jpgSony’s live-streamed PlayStation event in Japan might have been coupled with an English translation, but there was… mixed news for the home crowd, too. Following the mid-November PS4 launch date in the US, Japanese gamers have to wait until February 22nd. It’ll be priced at 41,979 yen, or, with the PlayStation camera, 46,179 yen and Sony will again be offering a first limited edition pack with free games at the same launch price.
When announced, you could cut the tension here with a knife – the crowd groaned. Kawano-san, SCEJA’s President, explained that the delay was because the company wanted to ensure there was sufficient software for the Japan launch. However, that’s unlikely to allay complaints from its Japanese fan base. Three months is quite a wait.
