Playing it safe

Assalam o alaikum Everbody,

For the past few months, I’ve been thinking so i will be giving a piece of my mind and i am sure, this may be unacceptable to a lot of guys but
my question demands a little bit of broad-mindedness and i will really appreciate if no judgments are made.
Since the time we think that we know enough about Islam and now we think that among us there’s a severe need of leadership but when we think that we can do it way better than the mullahs, moulvis, allamas and other religious fanatics. The only think that makes us quiet is the thinking that what if i couldn’t do justice with what we are going to do,we will ruin both of our lives as we will be held responsible in front of ALLAH and we will have to answer about our people. So the people who even have good intentions think that its not worth the risk, how about we go back to being a good husband/wife, a good brother/sister and a good son/daughter and that’s it, we will be good…!!
This way we end up leaving the job for the aforementioned people.
So my question is that don’t you think that we have been brought up with the teachings or should i say with the interpretations that makes us TO PLAY IT SAFE rather than going for it. In other words, i do have an idea that Islam discourages leaders who have the potential to do the job way better, by the job i mean leading people in any way and in any form …!!
