Any opinions on what changes should be made? Or should we stick to the winning combination?
I seriously don’t wanna see Hafeez anywhere near the Pakistani team. Fawad Alam is miles ahead of him in batting and fielding. In my opinion, he would be the perfect option at #3 because he is an excellent rotator of the strike and is by far the fastest runner between the wickets in our team.
I’d like to see Hammad Azam replace Latif…the young lad can’t so worse than Latif. But it seems as though Waqar and Afridi don’t think he is ready for this level yet.
If we are to have any chance of winning against the Aussies, I think Butt and Kamran are most key players. Both of them like the pace on the ball and seeing the deadly Aussie pace attack, I see the likes of Hafeez, Misbah, Afridi as sitting ducks for them.
I am a big fan of fawad alam. He should be in. Hafeez and misbah should be taken out. Latif wasnt so impressive today. I don't know if anyone can really handle australia's pace. the only 2 people that i think can stand a chance is umar akmal, razzaq and afridi.
also we cannot have the same strategy against the Aussies of playing a predominantly spin attack with just two seamers - Aamer and Razzaq. The Aussies w'd eat us up alive!
^ I think after seeing both Asif and Sami in action in this tournament...they're gonna get belted by the Aussies as well. Our spin bowlers r in form, so why not go with them...minus Hafeez of course.
^ Fair point. But Aussies play spinners better than the Saffies
Batting is the biggest concern for me. It is important that if we bat first against the Aussies that we bat well and put a total of 170-180 on the board. Chasing runs is going to be even harder IMO against their pace attack
The only reason hafeez is in the team is due to his bowling which hasn't been too bad. If hafeez gets dropped then they better think of a replacement player who can bowl 2-3 overs if needed.
I would like to see Aussie side chasing a total. If you have noticed they have yet to chase in a single game. I think Pakistan's greatest chance to win against Aussie will be if theyg et a chance to bat first and post a total of 160+
Latif out Asif in. I would like Hafeez out and Alam in but Alam hasnt bowled all through this tournament, not sure if giving him the over or two Hafeez bowls is a good idea.
Aus has faced enough of sami, aamir, ajmal, Afridi and already have a game plan against them . Pak needs to add a surprise package for them especially in the bowling department . Abdur Rehman may play a key role because they haven't faced him yet. I would add Hammad Azam iinto the mix as he could be another handy pacer and may trouble the Aussie batsmen. We need to get rid of Hafeez. He is totally useless at this point. Latif has the potential to be explosive so we should stick with him.
Actually im not too sure about playing Fawad Alam against the Aussies. Fawad has a huge weakness against the short ball and the likes of Tait, Johnson, and Nannes will pepper him for sure. But then again...pretty much our whole team cant play the short ball. Im confused.
I have seen Hammad Azam all through the U-19 WC and he definetly should not be playing against Australia. His pace while bowling is like Razzaq's and he doesnt have much variety either. From what I have seen, he is a very, very good player of spin bowling...one of the best I have seen in recent times...but he is not that strong against the faster bowlers. Plus, he really isnt a big hitter as people are making him out to be. He is aggressive, but he is the type of player who takes a lot of singles and doubles and hits the odd boundary.
The Aussies took Hafeez to the cleaners in the last game so I doubt his medicore spin bowling will bother them even one bit. On the other hand, the only time Misbah looked to be in some sort of form was against the Aussies where he scored 41 but got no support from any other batsmen.
Tough decisions for the captain and team managment to make.
