Players released without any charge or condition and free to go

After spending several hours at Kilburn police station, players lawyer just came on Sky News saying " players are released without any charge or condition" it means they are free to go back to Pakistan.

I wonder what evidence ICC have?

What will be implication now?

Does that mean they comitted no crime?

They been cautioned by police though!!

Re: Players released without any charge or condition and free to go

ICC took its decisions because Australian newspapers were making such an idiotic remarks about whole Pakistani team. Well I will never say the trio is innocent but they should have proof before they even make any statement or take any action about it.

It just proved the ICC is NOT neutral in its working.

Aamir iis out of Player of year nominee ... :| ... .. .. :(

Re: Players released without any charge or condition and free to go

ICC sucks

Re: Players released without any charge or condition and free to go

UK's criminal law might not apply to them. There could be civil law implications or violations of ICC's code of conduct. Should not go overboard here.

One should realize that it is ICC, not PCB where you would ban and un-ban players after 'secretive' investigations and reports that are never released to public.

If players are innocent, they can challenge the suspension, get their names cleared, sue NOWT and become millionaires.

Re: Players released without any charge or condition and free to go

^^ and why that? How can ICC implement their "code of conduct" without a proof? Hawai Fire?

Re: Players released without any charge or condition and free to go

LOL at Hawai Fire :omg:

Re: Players released without any charge or condition and free to go

^ They said they have charged the players after obtaining enough proof. It is now up to the players to defend themselves.

The 'proof' might not be enough for a criminal offence but enough for charging them with violation of code of conduct.

Re: Players released without any charge or condition and free to go

The police can only press charges if anyone in UK had suffered loss due to their actions. as that is not the case the police cannot prosecute them, but that does not necessarily mean they are clean.

Re: Players released without any charge or condition and free to go

Well at least they should have shared "those" proofs with PCB and Scotland Yard for their further investigation. As they have got "nothing", so what they are up to by applying their code of DUCK!

Re: Players released without any charge or condition and free to go

Now it's up to ICC anti-corruption unit to provide proof that they are guilty.

Re: Players released without any charge or condition and free to go

That's what I am asking too. I am not asking to prove them innocent, neither saying that they were not involve in any kind of fixing. I just want to know the truth.

If there are "any" proof, just bring it to the public. Everyone want to know, why.

Re: Players released without any charge or condition and free to go

While everyone is talking like the ‘guy’ in the blog below, it was really really stupid for PCB to insist that those three would play. A respectful defeat is much better than a shady win.

I am sure proofs would be made public when the fiasco gets over.

Re: Players released without any charge or condition and free to go

More blogging and further assumptions. Proof bitte!

Re: Players released without any charge or condition and free to go

We all know how PCB operates but lets not think that ICC is a flawless body. Their past record as a sports governing body has been way below par by international standards, so much so that there have been several instances where their actions were dictated by boards like ACB, BCCI, ECB. I am afraid they just crumbled under pressure yet again from other boards mainly ECB who obviously had spectator and sponsor related concerns for the upcoming T20 and ODI series.

ICC earlier implied several times this week that it will wait for the Police and the ACSU to finish their investigation and based on their reports ICC will take further actions. Knowing that the three will be interviewed by police today, ICC could have easily waited for one more day instead of charging the three in such haste.

Sad this issue could have been dealt in a much better and diplomatic manner instead of having this unnecessary fiasco.

Pakistan stars released without charge - lawyer

British police released without charge three Pakistani cricket players embroiled in fixing claims after questioning them under caution today, their lawyer said.“Mohammad Aamer, Mohammad Asif and Salman Butt of the Pakistan cricket team have today been questioned under caution by the Metropolitan Police,” Elizabeth Robertson told reporters outside Kilburn police station in north London."They voluntarily attended Kilburn police station to answer questions relating to allegations published in the News of the The World.“At no time were they placed under arrest, they were free to leave at any time and they have answered all of the questions that were put to them and have been released without charge or conditions.” Aamer, Asif and Butt were named in a story by the News of the World alleging that deliberate no-balls had been bowled in the fourth and final Test between England and Pakistan at Lord’'s, which finished with an England win Sunday. The International Cricket Council has charged the three under its anti-corruption code and suspended them from playing in any further matches until their cases are resolved. The players deny all wrongdoing and Pakistani High Commissioner Wajid Shamsul Hasan has suggested they might have been set up.Robertson said the Pakistan Cricket Board and the three players “will continue to cooperate fully with the Metropolitan Police and the ICC investigation and they look forward to a timely and satisfactory outcome”.
