I am sure every one who watches IND vs SA and PAK vs SA matches did see Nel cheap talk and provacation. What is the limit? It seems like so far Umpires failed to warn him.
Younis did walk to him, Sreesanth did a dance for him, and am sure at some stage when Afridi will be in the field, he may get into his face. SO Umpire should step in and keep this gentlemen game within the limits of civilized people.

don't know how much you have seen him, but he has been a nut case since the start. The only problem is that most of the batsmen try to ignore him and thus avoid heated arguments. Umpires usually interfere when the batsmen also starts to respond aggresively. I remember he was in trouble last year against Australia when Gilchrist responded him back both with his bat and mouth.
Re: Player (Andre Nel) provacation: whats the limit?
Nel is obnoxious but he doesn't say much. He would usually just give long mean stares to batsmen. What's wrong with that? If I was the batsman I would just stare back or make faces at him until he turns around to walk back to his bowling mark. I love such characters on the tube..it makes it so interesting to watch.
Re: Player (Andre Nel) provacation: whats the limit?
staring is ok but I don't like his bukbuk after every other delivery. It is ok to do it sometimes but not everytime.
Other bowlers usually play mind games with batsmen. However, in his case I have a feeling it's a problem with his own mind.

the answer to his provocation is very simple, you need to have a cool head and let the bat talk, by cool head I mean watch Ricky ponting, S. Fleming or Ghilchrist. I can't say Pakistani players coz they are 2 faced coin's one day brilliant and the other day .....:(
Re: Player (Andre Nel) provacation: whats the limit?
He may not be cursing batsmen but he is not just staring either. With every ball he tells batsman that you are not good enough to play at this level. Even he talked to a batsman if he score a single and go to non striker end. But I agree with some of the above comments that a batter needs to be cool minded and wait for loose delivery and then punish it, the way Ponting will do. I have seen him when he was abusing Sreesanth and when Sreesanth hit him for six then Nel couldnt bend his head down enough to hide it in his b...ts.
I would rather suggest that batsmen should stay cool and wait for bad balls, and in the process if he is bowling some maiden overs then let it be, and in such scanerio batsmen should tell him to wait for ODI series, I should teach you.
Re: Player (Andre Nel) provacation: whats the limit?
The players they are talking about is Paul Harris. It seems like Nel and Harris already crossed the line of decency, and Micky Arthur is saying 'What is said on field should stay on field". Do you think it is a field of cursing competition? or a cricket filed, known as a game of gentlemen.
South Africa v Pakistan, 1st Test, Centurion, 4th day Alleged insult under investigation
AFP
January 14, 2007
South African officials are investigating an incident during the fourth day of the first Test against Pakistan in which an unnamed South African allegedly made an insulting remark which was heard by television viewers around the world.
"They're like animals," was the comment picked up by a stump microphone which apparently had not been turned off as normally happens soon after a ball has been bowled.
Mickey Arthur, South Africa's coach, said the comment had been the subject of complaining e-mails, some "from as far afield as Pakistan." He added: "The comment was not aimed at any Pakistan player."
Arthur said the incident was the subject of an internal investigation and that a statement will be issued on Monday. As far as he was aware, he said, it had not become a matter for match referee Chris Broad.
The comment was made shortly before lunch, soon after a complaint from the South African team about three spectators near the boundary who allegedly swore at bowler Paul Harris.
The head of security at the ground, Terence Jacobs, said the three spectators, who were supporters of Pakistan, were questioned and two were asked to leave the ground after admitting that they had sworn at the players.
Arthur added he was not happy about the stump microphones. "They are a bit intrusive," he said. "What is said on the field should stay on the field."

grame smith or one of the slip fielders after over was over said fing Pakistanis, and commentator right after that said i hope that was from crowd and not players because that is not what you want to hear on a cricket field!
Re: Player (Andre Nel) provacation: whats the limit?
The whole Sa team is like that. I wish Akhtar was in this game. Atleast he would shut them up by speaking back to them or aiming at their heads with a 95 mph delivery.
The other problem is that our players dont understand much english to say something back to them. If SA players spoke punjabi, then they would have been shocked by the creativity of curse words that our players know.
Khair, the best answer would be to defeat them in both test and one-day series.
Re: Player (Andre Nel) provacation: whats the limit?
Pakistan should not only complain about SA language rather they should also bring Billy Doctrove incompetencies in ICC notice too. It seems like even Match Refree and third umpires are sleeping and thats why couldnt see Prince out catch and bowled by Nazir. Every one could see that Nazir fingers were under the ball.
Re: Player (Andre Nel) provacation: whats the limit?
pakistan are smart though, they know there is a double standard and know if they say something, they will be penelised, thats y there just concentrating oin the game, but im waiting for shoaib to ocme in!
