Hi all!! we have got play-doh activity happening almost each day. I support all the play fun time my pre-schoolers get at home and as much as I encourage them to be involved in developing their motor/bilateral coordination skills, but the mess it leaves behind some nights my husband and I are cleaning up even till 10 pm. Any quick tips or suggestions on removing the stains or even hard crusted play-doh left behind on the carpet? I have tried vacuuming but it still stays put…ughhh
Re: Play-doh stains
Teach them to clean after the mess, keep playdoh on the table, provide mats for the activity time, if they throw it on the floor—give 1 warning, 2nd time playdoh is taken away from them for that day. Be consistent. InshahAllah this method will keep your carpets playdoh free.
Re: Play-doh stains
^ We had a play-room made especially for them with laminate floors/toy cabinets so they can have fun but learn to clean up as well!!! My older one does really well with cleaning up after herself, the carpet is on the stairs only where the younger one (3 year old) likes to go crazy making ‘cookies’ I should try taking it away, either they learn or I am up cleaning ![]()
Re: Play-doh stains
I am preschool teacher, I don’t clean after the kids, they have to clean up whatever they are playing with. I model playing with playdoh and we make a big deal that play-doh needs to stay on the table mat and not on the carpet, walls, etc. Model for the younger one and then set boundaries.
Re: Play-doh stains
Yep it happened to me too. Try the carpet brush and dish washing detergent. I still had to literally pluck it out but it helped a bit more than everything else that I tried.

GtG, Yah I think I am not going to use the vacuum anymore, it does literally jack, I am surely going to try the brush/soap. thanks!
