Platonic Love

What is your definition of platonic love
Is it innocent?

i didn’t want to bring up a really old thread.

Re: Platonic Love

free from any sensual/sexual desire or attraction.

Re: Platonic Love

laila majnu kaa pyaar lol

Re: Platonic Love

i feel like it can exist when there are factors like religious and cultural differences that are so in your face how can there not be platonic love between two even if they are opposite gender.

there can be caring without there being any sexual feelings. hurray for platonic wub

Re: Platonic Love

^It can exist…but at the same time…I don’t think that platonic love is dependent upon religious/cultural differences. You can feel an attraction toward someone who is of a different religion and culture from you…but one might choose to control/suppress those feelings. People can bond over other aspects (similar interests, personalities, views, goals etc)…even though the two aspects you’ve mentioned may be very different. Also, even within two different cultures and religions…there can be some common ground.

Re: Platonic Love

right, the suppressing or withdrawing can happen hence the platonic nature of the relationship can exist…it’s all in our control b/c we see that there would be too many conflicts if it was turned into something more than platonic

it’s stupid to say that a person “falls” in love, there is no falling, we can choose not to fall and still feel a strong bond with the person
i’m talking in the nonvirtual world here…lol

laila and majnu could very well use their minds to control the attraction or “pyaar” they felt, it’s silly to think otherwise

Re: Platonic Love

I love my best friend platonically. I love other people too, but I can REALLY feel the love for her right now.

Re: Platonic Love

I don't think the "falling" is so much in one's control as attraction is a very complex thing. But you do have control in choosing whether or not you want to continue/pursue those feelings. The way I see it.........if you find that you have to put the brakes on or put your feelings in check.....then that means you had started "falling." I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's harder to control the falling....but once you have that realization....you have greater control in what you want to do with those feelings.

Re: Platonic Love

LOL.....oh but I never said or even accused you of talking about the "virtual" world. :p

I was speaking in a broad/general way, Nisha.

Re: Platonic Love

That platonic love sounds like "patloon love".

Re: Platonic Love

:omg: tum bhii na bas :cb:

Re: Platonic Love

hehe tou aur kya!!!

Re: Platonic Love

there is a lot of room for platonic love in this world, esp since 80-90% of people are on the ugly side..

jk jk

Re: Platonic Love

I think of it is as caring for another person, without all the drama that is attached to romantic love. : )
As per your other posts, I don't think 'falling' is quite so controllable.

Re: Platonic Love

Isn't the love for your parents, siblings, friends etc considered platonic love? And your pets perhaps, well, ideally.

Re: Platonic Love

^Those feelings for the pets? Illegal in most countries.

Re: Platonic Love

^ Goes unreported in Pakistan, it is such a horrible place. :( Ask IcedSoul if you don't believe me.

Re: Platonic Love

^ Poor IceSoul stuck in horrible Pakistan. Sad.

Re: Platonic Love

^ Oh. I thought Jaanwar meant Icesoul is an animal lover.

Re: Platonic Love

^ LOL jeez ya tobo, what a horrible thing to say. I mean even if he is one, who are we to judge him. Whatever he fancies, you know.

Wane, I don't think the guy is IN Pakistan. He is just too well informed about Pakistan, more than the people who live there apparently.
