PLasma TV

Okay people enlighten me.
Which are the best?

Re: PLasma TV

Depends on how much u can afford and what your wants are. 19" Dell's are pretty good.

Re: PLasma TV

$ not an issue, now dont show me anything for 30,000 but you know 5,000 should be good.

And its for the family room - so a larger one please and one that hangs on the wall not those that you have to put on a stand.
Thanks!

Re: PLasma TV

go for any HD ready TV (If transmission in your area supports that). Surprisingly LG have an edge over Sony in HD ready TVs.

Re: PLasma TV

dont look at the HD readt badge. You want something supporting at least 1080i, pref 1080p for future. HDMI,HDMI 2 coming soon. Loads of other technical stuff but I'll keep it simple by saying go for a Pioneer Plasma followed by top end Pansonic. Pioneer has superb color rendition, Pansonic has the edge on greyscale.

Sony dont make their own screens but use Samsung/LG like most other manufacturers. For a HD tv it's not just the screen thats important but the electronics. They play as much a aprt in quality you see. This is where you get what you pay for. Cheap = choppy blocky, low quality video with sound a little out of sync to video. Not enough processing cycles for video to sync with audio.

Re: PLasma TV

i dont think i would prefer plasma's because they cost too much and i dont their worth it in the end ...just what i think though....everyone thinks different.

Re: PLasma TV

cost more? cost less per square inch than other large screen technologies.

Re: PLasma TV

one word.. Panasonic

Re: PLasma TV

There's this new ones out there by Visio, its very no-frills kinda models but they have really good picture. They have them at those shopping clubs like Costco. Very reasonably priced. If I didn't have my heart set on the Sony SXRD models I'd buy this one.

Re: PLasma TV

You dont need to look any further… probably the best deal is:

Panasonic

Re: PLasma TV

Acrobi, that's a good TV but is a commercial model. Too many additional things will be required to make it work at home. And the price is high to begin with and then u add additional modules costing more money. Hence, thumbs down!
That Sony TV i'm rooting for includes all kinds of inputs, is 1080p but is not wall mountable. I was blown away by the resolutions. I'm trying to make some room at home before I can actually purchase it.

Re: PLasma TV

isnt LCD better?

Re: PLasma TV

We've got Pioneer 50 inch HD Plasma TV. It was voted best Plasma TV in What Hifi magazine in the UK. It was the best one u cud get at the time and that was 5 months ago.

Re: PLasma TV

I think I will stick to Sony or Pioneer.

Thanks for everything you all, half of it didnt make sense to me but thanks. :)

Re: PLasma TV

PLASMA VS LCD

Shed some light on which one is better?

Re: PLasma TV

^^ not sure, but I heard LCD lasts longer than plasma, but plasma picture quality is better then LCD.

Re: PLasma TV

Muniya I wouldnt invest that much on a Plasma TV cause it runs out of gas after a year or two

If i were you i'd go for LCD

Panasonic has the best picture quality

Re: PLasma TV

SO much misinformation and bollox here. Who told you that Plasma runs out of gas after a year?

Infact 6th Gen plasma have a very high Xenon mixture, probbaly last longer than the CCL tubes inside LCD.

Re: PLasma TV

My local Best Buy guy told me to stay away from plasmas. Showed me the phospor burn that took place in just two months. LCD is the way to go.

Re: PLasma TV

you get image burns on a CRT display. How many people do you know with a burnt display?

The crappy stores have tv's on 24/7 with same channel. Those logo's on corners get burnt in under such use.
