I have recently been diagnosed with bilateral plantar fascitis after having a complaint of severe pain in my heels especially in the morning after getting out of the bed.I want to know if anyone here or their family member has an experience with this problem and what care/treatment they have found to be effective apart from complete bed rest which is NOT possible for me.physiotherapy and shockwave treatment is an option.the dr has suggested a steroid shot in the heel to reduce inflammation but i have heard of it being ineffective and adding to the pain in many cases.being tall and flat-footed, I have been wearing comfortable shoes since always..still i have got a new pair of scholl’s medicated shoes with cushions that would supposedly help
redistribute the weight and am taking regular anti-inflammatory pain killer in mornings.
Oh my gosh ... I have just come across two ppl suffering from the same prob...one of them is getting physiotherapy done and the other one is eyeing surgery to get it removed... The guy who is getting physiotherapy was recommended by the physiotherapist to use his index finger and rub the nerve next to the plantar .... early in the morning 100 times before he gets out of bed and also whenever he is sitting watching television. He couldn't get out of bed because of the pain... he says massaging the nerve or the plantar has made things a lot better....
Proto: there are gel cushions that my friend got recommended that can be put in different shoes by the doctor... try those if you can get them in pak....if not let me know...
sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there is no actual cure.
a good doctor will tell you the same thing. a regular doctor will tell you to get surgery, which is not guaranteed.
tips to help
-stretch the feet before getting out of bed (you can roll a cold can of coke or a hard water bottle under your feet).
-use gel cushions (try foot locker, scholls)
-see a chiropractor or an orthopedic doctor (not surgeon)
Thanks sadi and bridetobe.
I went to an orthopedic specialist for the problem.a surgeon:i have one at home :D my husband!
So far, I am trying my best to have some rest as my days have been really hectic over last couple of months with lots of walking and driving and looking after every chore at home since my servant left and I live alone with husband and son-no helping hand at all.
Plus I have got medicated shoes..looking for gel pads but haven't been able to locate a place where I can get them in lahore.anti-inflammatory painkillers work for a few hours obviously..I will definitely try nerve rub and rolling a can in the morning tomorrow inshaAllah. thanks a lot again :)
