:( my dress alone is 1700euro.....i dont think i cud stick to that budget...but i wudnt go like crazy beyond it either....

$3250 is almost impossible to work with here in California for a wedding but let me try...

$450 for a wedding dress from online
$150 for a simple sherwani online
$500 for photography
$600 for food for 50 ppl at a small banquet hall
$250 for decorations
$75 for favors
$250 for makeup and hair

That totals up to $2275 leaving you with $975 for alot of other stuff gold, shoes, wedding registration.

And note the photos and make and dress and hall are VERYY simple on thsi budget

Not my wedding as I am not yet married, but some money cutting ideas...

Cut out the pre-wedding parties like mehndi etc.

Wedding day - nikkah at the masjid followed by reception at a nice venue for close family and select friends.

Wedding dress - buy in the sales.

Make up and hair - do it yourself or get a trusted friend to do it.

Costume jewellery instead of gold.

Make the wedding cake yourself or get a friend who is good at baking to do it.

Flowers - buy from the markets (warning: you will need to be there around 4/5am to get the good stuff before it all sells out)

Well - i m happy that we are encouraging this system

my brother did not had Mehndi -

a cousin's family Followed

and then again on my wedding - we are not having any Mehndi !!

its not that we cant !! we are discouraging such functions which are non-Islami
