For my friends wedding, PLEASE because I am not talented or creative enough. I have unlimited time, I dont think there will be a stage, only one mic, alot of time and untalented, budhi, boring me :elmo:. I cant dance, I cant sing well I can try but then it has to be a special song and my friends not even into music! So that leaves me with a skid which is fine but whoes gonna come up with a cool script?
What else can I do? Help a poor untalented sister out
I am not, we have more untalented people who dont have a clue!
Why cant a wedding be without a stage its a wedding, not a show. Actually, I take that back, desi weddings are full of entertaining dramas.
CD I am wondering about it cuz you should have some elders in the family to help you out. And depends if you are just planning nikkah or u want all five days wedding?
Oh no, I am not planning the wedding! I am just planning the entertainment part of it. My friend(who is getting married) got us a mic and she wants us to do something. No funky speaches or dances, thats all the directions we have.
oh okay, thats what i was wondering about. Anyways, well you can have dandiya in it as well as few solo or with partner dances. Depends how liberal the family is, then you can have the bride and groom dance too. Bhangra is a nice addition into into. Dholki with duff you can have two parties competing against each other in songs. These are basically what norm is in pakistan.
A few fun events that have gone really well at recent wedding receptions in my family:
*a funny skit that told the fictional story of how the bride and groom got together (this can be a bollywood spoof, any other movie spoof, and make fun of the bride and groom)
*a slideshow
*a film that my cousin made telling a funny story of the history of the bride and groom with old photos and film clips. really nicely done.
^ friends and cousins have done all the above and u can make it funny or keep it to just pics
- get pics of the guy and the girl from their childhood to present and set up a slide show - it is quite entertaining. You can even include your pics w/ the bride, her sis, bros, the guy's family and tell an anecdote with each picture. Maybe you all went to disneyworld together or eid pics etc.
- if anyone in the group has a flair for comedy, then as Sahar suggested create a skit about how the girl and guy met. One of our friends even did a skit where you invite bachelor no. 1, 2, and 3. And you can make them as goofy as you like. Make one of the guys dress up as the bride to be questioning the bachelors. Role reversal skits are always fun if everyone has a sense of humor :)
Living in country where u only know religous families, you don't get to attend interesting weddings. I went to couple of them and all of them were pure boring even in family weddings we heard lectures on Islam. I love pakistani weddings, at least ppl are not close minded as they are here in north america.
errr I wanted to do read some hadiths about how its ok to be romantic with your husband cuz its a shhhh shhh thing in the desi culture but my friend doesnt think so.
my brother's wedding is in a few weeks..and my sister and bhabhi are doing this skit/dance that pokes fun at the girl's side (we're all cousins, so no one will get really offended..its all for fun)....I mix together different hindi songs that makes fun of their personality/habits (eg. the bride's cousin is always so stressed about her job and kids...so the song we used for her was "Just Chill"..from that salman khan movie...lol!!)..we dont use the whole song, just the chorus and maybe first verse....im great with picking out the good songs to make fun of people....besides, its all fun, and everyone looks forward to it (we did it last year on my other bro's wedding)....
i am also preparing a slide show for the wedding....my future bhabhi came from pakistan to get married...so all her immediate family is still all back home...so to make her feel welcomed and loved, i made a slide show using that Jawad ahmad song.."yehi to hai apna paan"...i put pics of her and her family, along with her and our family and my brohter and her...its very sweet....
