I thought there were some prophecies that Rasullulah (SAW) regarding a sickness towards the end of times, that would take people’s lives and they would simply breathe in the sickness and die, and that this sickness would target believers, to take away believers from Earth?
Re: Plague
^ Yes, Christians have this concept too … It is called the rapture.
Re: Plague
If this thread is in reference to Ebola then I don't think it's the sickness prophesied in hadith because that will occur after the appearance of Dajjal and Gog Magog.
This one is more like the pestilence mentioned in Bible where a quarter of the world's population will be wiped off as a result of this sickness.
Re: Plague
^Hareem, are there any prophecies in Islam about any sickness/plague that is to occur prior to the one that will take place after Gog and Magog.
PCG, I had wondered the same question as you after reading about the recent outbreak.
Re: Plague
Hazrat Abdullah ibn Umar said,
"The Prophet came to us and said, 'O Muhajirun, (emigrants from Makkah to Madinah), you may be afflicted by five things; God forbid that you should live to see them.
If fornication should become widespread, you should realise that this has never happened without new diseases befalling the people, which their forebears never suffered.
If people should begin to cheat in weighing out goods, you should realise that this has never happened without drought and famine befalling the people, and their rulers oppressing them.
If people should withhold zakat, you should realise that this has never happened without the rain being stopped from falling; and were it not for the animals' sake, it would never rain again.
If people should break their covenant with Allah and His Messenger, you should realise that this has never happened without Allah sending an enemy against them to take some of their possessions by force.
If the leaders do not govern according to the Book of Allah, you should realise that this has never happened without Allah making them into groups and making them fight one another."
[Ibn Majah]
Sahih Bukhari
Volume 9, Book 88, Number 247:*Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Apostle said, "There are angels at the mountain passes of Medina (so that) **neither plague* nor Ad-Dajjal can enter it.'
*Anas bin Malik (RA) narrated that the Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “Among the signs that the Last Hour is near, is that the crescent would appear larger than its actual size and people would say: ‘It appears as if it is only two days old.’ and the masajid will be taken as streets, and sudden death will spread.” *
