Designer Nida Khurram on May 30 showcased her new summer collection at Fashion Pakistan Lounge in Karachi’s Dolmen Mall, in which her pieces incorporated contemporary illustrations and motifs on luxurious Swiss lawn.
Although many took a liking to the designer’s digital prints, freelance Portuguese illustrator António Soares took to his Facebook account to express his ‘disgust’ for the collection which he claimed made use of his illustrations without his permission.

Soares, contrary to the idea of the designer paying a tribute to his illustrations revealed that she did not contact him for permission to use his illustrations.

Re: Plagiarism of Pakistani Fashion Designers - Lack of creativity
In Pakistan no one cares about copyright. If you can copy and paste then it's yours. My photographs have ended up on TV on some random chanel promo and then I started to heavily watermark my stuff.

She should read ethical issues in fashion designing or something similar to subject.

Plagiarism must not be encouraged. It's simly stealing, no matter how you see it. The artists who put time and effort must be compensated for their original creations. I just despise copycats who like to be called"artists". They are white color thieves, simple as that!

From fake degrees to plagiarised clothing. We need copyright law enforcement agencies.

Excellent article on an important issue.
Intellectual Property Protection is non existent in Pakistan. What is even more shameful that well to do educated individuals plagarise more. They have the resources and knowledge to take a step in the right direction but choose not to for financial gains.
Charging exuberant amounts for designs which have been imitated is akin to robbing.
I wish and pray that all involved change their ways to earn an honest living.
