Funguy, I've been to Salzburg. It's pretty, scenic ... very historical, but overrated and too touristy. Especially what they've done to Mozart's house ... it's kinda pathetic.
Mehnaz, yeah... I guess I am at least 10 years late for visiting Salzburg. I should have listened to her and not picked my choice of Honolulu, Hawaii. Oh well.
How was Mozart's place?. Does he still live in the same house? poor *******.
I am dying to go to Israel.

I went in 1998 and wasn't too impressed ... mainly cause it was too commercialized and way too touristy. Mozart's birthplace is tacky. I mean, it's in nice cobble stone street, the house is painted yellow ... but it has a big gold sign engraved into the house saying, "Mozart's Birthplace" or something like that. I wasn't impressed.
Ok here are a few:
Grenada- Spain
Because of the rich moorish history. It's beautiful from what I know, there's both a beach and a skiing resort in the same city.
Prague- Czech Repl.
Old, pitoresque city, looks amazing in pictures and whatever I've seen on tv
St. Petersburg, Russia
For the architecture and ofcourse for The State Hermitage ; one of the world's biggest arts and culture museum.
Greece!
Because it's beautiful and I have friends there :-p
Scandinavian countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland)
Because they're not popular tourist destinations.
Ok that was enough for Europe :-/ (I basically want to see all of it)
i've had it with big cities or any city for that matter. now I want to visit National parks and forests, rivers, lakes and mountains. How about Acadia National Park or the Olympic National Park in Washington?. I wana go back to Yosemite.
I want to go anywhere and everywhere they have mountains!!!
I live in the flattest country of the world :-(
sigh

I went to Salzburg in July, ie 2 months ago and would have to agree with you. It used to be a nice, peaceful city, but now it is totally commercialized. That´s why we only went there for a few hours and spent the rest of the weekend in Hallstatt (1 hours drive from Salzburg). And that was an extremely wonderful, calm and peaceful place.
