Re: -Places You have visited in Lahore and those that you Would LIKE to visit one day

I've been to Minar-e-Pakistan as a 3-year-old. Would love to go there again some day.

It has also been quite some time since I last visited Lahore Fort and Badshahi Mosque.

The places I've visited in the last few years are:

  • Food Street
  • Anarkali
  • Gulberg Main Market
  • Defence Shopping area
  • M. M. Alam Road (which is kind of a "westernized" food street)
  • Liberty Market
  • Ichchra
  • Lahore Railway Station (travelled by train from/to Lahore a couple of times)
  • Fortress Stadium

Still on my ToDo list:

  • Basant in Lahore
  • Wagah Border (I'd love to see that change of guard ceremony live)
  • Lahore Museum
  • A re-visit of the historic places in Lahore, some of which I've seen during my Pk trips as a child

Hey anyone of you heard about Cooco's Den ??? Its some where near Baadshahi mosque and Lahore Fort. I have heard its a MUST go, MUST see place. It is a restaurant btw and what I have heard is that Cooco was a Twaaif of Heera Mandi and this restaurant is made by her son who was studying in US. Cooco has some very sad life story (zulam ki daastan) which I do know. Please share if anyone here knows.

Oh Ask , dont ask, Jalo is a totally yuck place now. Its no more for families but only a famous DATING place i.e. HIGH and ADVANCED degree dating… :-X

Re: -Places You have visited in Lahore and those that you Would LIKE to visit one day

the dancing girls of lahore is the history of cukoos

I have been all the places you mentioned here..

let’s go asky :hula:

i did. the food there is amazing! and the view is spectacular. it’s actually founded by the brother of one of the prostitutes or something, and he’s an artist. he draws the women as they are, and there isn’t any glamor associated to his paintings. he even posts their stories with their paintings, highlighting the horrible life they have to lead. don’t know the whole story, but some foreign newspaper did a whole story on it. a very wonderful place to visit, aesthetically.

wish i could find the link to the article =/

THE DANCING GIRLS OF LAHORE IS A BOOK LIKE AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY ON THE FOUNDER OF CUCOOS READ IT 4 THE HISTORY OF THE RESTUARNT

Re: -Places You have visited in Lahore and those that you Would LIKE to visit one day

shabo have you read the book? the book isn't about the founder of cuckoo's den. it's written by a woman who's researched the heera mandi and it's going ons.

Re: -Places You have visited in Lahore and those that you Would LIKE to visit one day

ok during her research about heera mandi u r also told about the artists home that she stayed at and we lot go 2 have a meal at and yes i have read it

Re: -Places You have visited in Lahore and those that you Would LIKE to visit one day

I feel the book must be very interesting. Is it available in market ?
