hi!
im planning on going to lahore in a couple of months, does anyone know of any good places to stay during my trip (2 weeks), these days with the security concern im wiping out major hotels from my list. Someone was telling me about the lahore gymkhana and the garrison (?) has anyone stayed at those places or can recommend some safe and nice places to stay in lahore.
Lahore is relatively safe and if you dont look Gora/Gori and dont have other reasons to be singled out as foreigner you should not be too much worried. As for your actual question where to stay I cant be of much help as I am not uptodate with that sort of knowledge. And btw is't the gymkhana for members only.
There are several place in lahore to stay for example pc hotel, hilton hotel, holiday in, and there is one in cantt. Also there are lots of hotels in all around the city, it just depends how much you can afford. There are guest houses in gulberg, defence, and in garden town. I would say if you wana to stay near the shopping area then stay in Gulberg Liberty Market or Main Market Hotels, they are not 4 or 5 star hotels but you will be in rush area (much safer) and near the shopping malls.
Defence Club is a nice and safe place to stay. I can get you the number if you want. One thing is that for reservation I have heard , only members can reserve the rooms. They do need to be reserved well in advance though:)
i heard about the defense club, thats the one thats in the dha area? my dad was in the armed forces but he retired now so do they let retired defense service men reserve rooms?
has anyone stayed there...if so how are the rooms & service?

whats this . Who told you gora/gori not save in Lahore or tell me a single incident of such sort. Its not US/UK where people from Pakistan are harrassed and humiliated.Only FATA area is not save otherwise there is nothing to be worried about.

You need to read first two posts again tiger ...... and keep your patriotic intelligence to yourself.
::: The original poster is definitely concerned about her safety
::: Being gora/gori does add more to that concern in current Pak environment
::: That US/UK reasoning .... lets not even go there
::: I did say Lahore is relatively safe
Sorry, can't offer much advice here but try to stay away from mainstream hotels. They don't appear to be safe after the Marriott hotel incident in Islamabad.
However, on the other hand is there a possibility of renting a holiday home in Lahore? I mean is there such a service in Pakistan? Sorry, to sound vague but I have always stayed with relatives and I have a friend who will be visiting lahore and does pardah/niqab and does not wish to stay with my family due to pardah. She wanted to know if she could rent a holiday home in lahore?
