Places to eat in Orlando, FL

we will be in Orlando for 4 days in and around Disney world area.. any recommendations on places to eat?? In fact I am more interested in knowing where not to eat!!

Also, anyone to magic show with dinner on international drive.. any reviews?

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

I don't remember specifics, but we did eat at some desi place up in Orlando and it was fine. There are a few places on International Drive - just stay away from anything where they dont have much of a meat selection - means that place is probably run by Indians and they don't know how to cook chicken or goat too well.

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

There is a great Pakistani restaurant in Orlando...not too far from International Drive. It used to be called Bismillah but they changed the name. Lemme see if I can find the number. The food is pretty good. There's also a halal Chinese place close to that restaurant.

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

No one helped me when I needed the information but anyways we were there in October.. had a great time and two places that I remember now were Garibaldi Mexican (loved the food) and Kabab n Curry (I think, its the with taj mahal poster on the glass windows) food was okay at the desi place but garibaldi was the best!

Niksik.. In fact two of my friends had told me to stay away from Bismillah so we never even looked for that.. I wonder why their experience was so bad there!!

I want to go back there now.. you girls brought the disney memories back :naraz:

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

Bismillah and apna bazar or apna restaurant, both on Orange Blossom Trail .. are decent non-expensive, pakistani halal restarants. Indian restaurants on international drive are way too pricey. 14 dollars for a plate of masoor kee daal .. that was pathetic.

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

Didn’t realize the thread was from October :smack:

I feel better now…muahahhah…:stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

I am also planning to visit theme park in orlando, fl.
It would be nice, if you share information about good pakistani/halal restaurant..

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

A couple of places I've eaten in Orlando:

Ahmed Indian Restaurant... good food - prices are a little on the high side.

Golden Dynasty Hakka Chinese Restaurant... excellent food and reasonable prices.

Shalimar Restaurant... didn't like the food and prices were high too.

You can probably find all these on zabihah.com

stayyabali.. We only ate once at the desi place- kabab n curry- Food was okay, I liked their tikka a lot though!

We were there for three nights- first evening there, we just explored International Drive and took a helicopter ride.. it was worth every penny!

Next three days were spent at three theme parks, full day at Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and half day at Magic Kingdom n Blizzard beach.. if you dun have kids with you for water sports, please don't go to blizzard beach- As soon as we got there, we kind of knew it wasn't the place for us since none of us were interested in water rides and most of them required swim-wear anyway!

Plan well.. you need at least a full day to explore everything at one theme park.. we enjoyed every moment spent there and took all the rides available. :-)

hehehe okay I didn't have enough information for desi food but I wanted to share information fort theme parks especially if its your first trip!

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

i didn't like the food at ahmed restaurant.

I like chapli kabab at bismillah restaurant.

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

I found Golden Dynasty restaurant best in orlando. I love there food. they offer Chinese as well as pakistani foods.
it should be must have restaurant if you are visiting Orlando.

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

We had great time in Orlando…we were there for a week!
Spent full day at each park, disney’s 3 parks and universal studio’s. Seaworld we had free tickets for aquatica (water park) but didn’t bother as GTG said they require swim suits and we had no kids with us, so thot to go somewhere.

Since we went in off-season there were hardly any queues’ so took all the rides… And in Universal studio’s took some twice

Spent a full day at a beach and had some nice chinese food there sorry don’t remember the name!
There was a nice middle eastern place, they had donner n stuff, was yummy..

Now i wanna go back to Orlando, Florida…

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

We will be there in early march ..

yeahhhhh

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

^Are you guys going to Disney world or other parts of FL as well??

We will be in Miami (and Orlando) in mid March... any recommendations for restaurants in Miami area?

Anything that's a must visit in Miami?

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

gemini i am so jealous! :) I am thinking to take a weekend trip with my son, anyone know if its worth going for just a weekend or long weekend...so say 2 full days of theme parks??
oh as to your original question long time ago, if let's say its the night of your arrival, then the magic show and dinner packages are worth it...i think there's that one place on international drive. You get to wander the magic area....i forgot its an upside down building with little activities/booths of wonder...whatever...then u get to see the magic show and dinner of pizza....it wasnt bad....since i think you pay just 15-20.
Hmm....

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

Afro...we had to choose between Montreal and/or Florida for our Spring getaway and after all this snow, the choice was clear!!!

This time, we will be in Miami area mostly, only doing a day trip to Disney World (either Magic Kingdom or Epcot) but rest will be Everglades, big cats park, beaches etc.. lets see how it goes!!

We wanted to do the magic show/dinner couple of years ago (when we first went to FL) but then ended up taking the helicopter ride on international drive! LOVED it!!! and yes we saw the upside down building (Wonderworks) we spent our arrival evening on internation drive and it was pure fun!!!

as for your question.. yes 2 full days at theme parks is do able assuming you are doing only two theme parks.. you have to dedicate a day for a park especially if you are with kids and even as adults, we didnt do anything but teh theme parks from open to close!

I am so excited to be going back to Florida again... I could make this my annual ritual :-D

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

Love Florida! I've only been to Orlando but it was one of our best trips ever. Have you guys tried Bubba Gump in Orlando? It's probably the best sea food I've ever had!

I really want to go to Miami! My husband and I are constantly thinking of moving down south to escape the snow in the North East!!

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

GTG, come on give us a run down. We will be in Orlando for 1 week in the month of march. Other than Bismillah and Apna Restaurant on Orange Blossom Trail, we are not aware of any other halal places. Please list from your experience here.

and yes, we will be in Disney area visiting those parks. But we will be staying in a resort with a built in water park so kids would be having fun there too.

Re: Places to eat in Orlando, FL

TLK, we only ate dinner twice outside.. At the Kabab and Curry and Garibaldi Mexican.. loved the mexican, not halal but they had enough veggie/bean dishes so it worked out well.. they had live music too!!!!Our breakfasts were at IHop and lunches at the theme parks... which I donot recommend at all.. it was way tooo expensive for a sandwich.. umm the water bottle cost $4.00 so yeah take your water bottles :-D

Cherryontop.. I know what you mean.. I would move to FL or LA in a heartbeat... I m tired of this new england weather!!!
