Placemats ...

so we got a glass dining table last week and I can already see three scratches on it :hinna: … my fault, I should have used a table runner /placemats before using it at all …

Khair ,its a black table, and I have been thinking of getting placemats , but cant figure out what type would serve me best :hmmm:

Leather ones?
bamboo ones?
glass ones?
Ikea ones ?
wood ones ?

I just need something that wont get ruined with curry stains ( they are strong) .. and gets easily wiped clean.

any recomendations?

Re: Placemats ...

i like wood ones............... they can be cleaned v easily.......

Re: Placemats …

my only concern is wood on glass table..arent there chances that that could scratch the table rather then protect it ? :hmmm:

I have leather ones which are easy to clean, also have these, which again are wipeable.

Re: Placemats ...

How about fabric ones? Machine washable obviously, and not white ones.

Re: Placemats ...

never used Fabric ones .. would they stain if curry spils on them?

Re: Placemats ...

Glass dining table has its own charm and loses it if you put a runner or table mats on it.

Thori mahngi walee khareednee thee na , ta k scratches nahi partay. :p

Re: Placemats …

Mirch, how to protect the table then ? from scratches ? coz even though its tempered glass , I have noticed scratches  … I want this table to last me for years …

What other choice do I have ? say if guest accidentally drops a spoon or a glass or anything while dining , then waht?

Re: Placemats ...

Nothing , it is protected already. The one I had ,which got shaeed when I moved, I had it for 7 years and not a single scratch.
The activities you mentioned should not scratch a good quality glass dining table.

Re: Placemats ...

use wipeable or washable placemats, everything else becomes a hassle

Re: Placemats ...

We have glass top dining table and with kids, its a pain. You think that have wiped it perfectly when you notice small hand prints, you try to rub them off and after few seconds you realize that the prints are on the underside of the glass, right in the middle of the table.

Re: Placemats ...

TLK but because u see it u clean it, we have glass tables in dining room and our breakfast area and i think had they been wood tables all that spill, messy hands and scrubbing would do a number on the wood, and if it is a veneer top, it would be dead by now. u always have the option of a stone top though :)
