Hello everyone,
My wife has applied for a regular passport and has been waiting 2 months now. I reside in NYC and need her passport ASAP to continue my immigration process of bringing her here.
I wans’t raised in PK but this is what I know…
- Guy (acquantance) who works at the passport office in Hyderabad, PK (where wife resides) said that due to elections and lamination issues, it’s out of his hands and will take X amount of time to arrive from Islamabad, PK.
- Wife didn’t apply urgently which was a mistake on her end but I can’t blame her.
- How long should I realistically wait since all this election nonsense is going on?
I called the US embassy (I think?) for assistance but the guy quickly cut me off by saying “we only handle passport issues via e-mail.” I doubt anyone in PK is going to read my e-mail when hundreds of Pakistanis are concerned about their status.
First time reader and poster. I find this Forum very interesting since I know nothing about PK politics except what my family in Karachi, Hyderabad describe in one word. “Corrupt.”
Your advice will be much appreciated,
