Saw Pitch Black - the much-touted sci fi movie starring Vin Diesel today, was pretty good, specially the way they portraid the Muslims in the film. Nothing extraordinary, but neverthless does keep you hooked. The aliens and the way they attcked was reminiscent of ‘Birds’, and I thought the FX were just fine - not overdone or the main focus of the movie.
Anyone else seen it?
Incidentally, Pitch Black is getting a sequel - titled ‘The Chronicles of Roddick’. From the trailor it looks something like Star Wars meets Lord of the Rings kinda stuff…will watch it when it releases in July!
Yup...its pretty good alright, but this 'Chronicles of Riddick' is a big budget summer movie....with its budget rocketing upto 120 million....but strangely there is no buzz about it!
See there is a whole bunch of Muslims on the ship which crashes into the barren planet...complete with an Imam...and they r shown praying, saying the 'azzan' on the alien planet and goin abt the lives as Muslims do.... The Imam is shown to be pillar of strength for the group...and its pretty cool, there are muslim kids and all too...considerable footage devoted to what I would call a non-biased portrayal of Muslims.
