i wore sharwal kamiz to my engagment davat. Mainly cause i didnt have the time to order a nice engagment suit and also cause theres nothing desi available around here where i live.
but i guess it looked ok ? i wasnt to happy with it =(

^ Yeah, my MIL made a shalwar kamiz for my mangni, a gharara for my wedding, and an angharka-churidaar suit for my valima.

Engagements are different. Most people aren't so decked up so I don't think it would have looked out of place.

Shalwar Kameez seem much too informal (regardless of how much work is on them), for a valima.
yes yes...... i too want to break the fashion of wearing ghagra and such and wear a decent looking chudidar/salwar... whichever looks good...:)

my sis wore shalwar kameez on her valima....but we are talkin abt 16/17 years ago !

Yea Im tired of seeing brides wearing Langha and garaya. Perheps a khamez & trouser, and have your duppta set punjabi stlye! your Valima is suppose to be relaxing, not to sit on a stage the whole time and sit like model.....
i think shalwar kameez would look stunning for a valima. These days you can get really heavy bridal shalwar kameezs.....i would love to see a change from leghas.
I agress with that because you can even wear you Valima Salwar Khamez after you get married to a close relatives wedding. With a langha you cant, and even if you do it looks odd at someone elses wedding, and is not respectful towards the bride....

^ Yes so true....i think shalwar kameez can look very elegant if you do it right. For my nikkah (i didn't have rukhsati or valima) i wore a shalwar kameez and it looked amazing. My sister in law wore a lengha and it just didn't look right. I'm not saying it to be nasty but that isn't just my opinion but everyone said that including mother in-law.

yaar my problem is yesterday i talked with my sis in law.. v discussed about our wedding n wedding n valima joras n makeup.. we want something different for my Valima.. like no gharara no sharara n no saree.. like i want some longgg heavy shirt with capri or like pent or trouser n very long duppata... give me some ideas n post pictures as well.. n also mention the colours..n what u suggest excluding gharara n sharara k as i said earlier pent/trouser/capri with long n haevy shirt n long duppatta or saree.. plz plz advise me n plz post pic ASAP
