Re: Pirated copies won't work on Windows Vista
they said the same stuff about xp and win 2000. Anyone seen a pirate copy yet?
If it is uncrackable it will do the linux world a favour. Many in the developing countries will turn to Open Source
Re: Pirated copies won't work on Windows Vista
Ahan...... ask those holmes doing the gang business dealing in all illegal stuff....... How and why they do it?!

Many have started from last 3-4 years using Open Source at their offices. Though not 100%
Re: Pirated copies won't work on Windows Vista
What's 'holmes' and what illegal work are you talking about?
Re: Pirated copies won't work on Windows Vista
OpenSource is the biggest fud. The reality is that there is no organization that goes to install an OS Linux version. Every organizations that uses Linux buys Red Hat, Suse or some other commercial product that is not free.
You think IBM spent millions in creating Eclipse because it loves OpenSource? They moved 7 of its top WebSphere developers into Eclipse org for nothing? Its all sbout marketing hype and another tactics to fight the competetion! IFor IBM, Eclipse is an stage to upsell to higher end IBM suites.
There is nothing in this world that is free; there is a cost associated with everything. Sometimes you pay higher cost right at the start, sometimes you pay in bits and pieces over the long term.

Like Burger King VS McDonalds.... and now they are thinking to merge.... means MONOPOLY for hight prices!
Re: Pirated copies won't work on Windows Vista
oh ...
simple talk
Check out the blackies or any theif or illegal business BOSS........ WHY and how they doe it... though many of them will say at first I did it to survive and now its habbit!
Re: Pirated copies won’t work on Windows Vista
aaho, you obviously are a n00b. Listen, I understand why people steal, but it’s still ‘stealing’. Now, if you’re justifying stealing, well that’s that then. How can you say that someone needs Windows XP or Vista to ‘survive’? You’re nuts, or just a thief trying to justify your thievery.
What you’re saying is akin to my saying “i want to be a mechanic but I can’t afford the tools, I’ll just steal them”.

check the history of billgates and windows.. he also stoled different utilities and functionality and joined them at one plce... so why not we?
and listen just apply n00bism on yourself you will get suit in it... :)
Re: Pirated copies won’t work on Windows Vista
Yes, by pass is here but Microsoft still not allowing security companies access to its kernel and turning a blindeye towards it. They claim that their built-in firewall will take care of any attack that may come and attack but they are ignoring the claims of hackers and security competitors like McAfee and computer associates. Microsoft was, is and never will be a security player and it better leave it to people who actually know what security is all about. Their attempt with vista is a pretty naive one. Lets see how long till enterprises start demanding to pay heed to third party security companies and microsoft end up depnding on others to do their dirty laundry ![]()
I deal with information security issues day in and day out and people are already apprehensive about Vista. It indeed is going to be make-or-break product for Microsoft.
Re: Pirated copies won’t work on Windows Vista
The problem is that you don’t even know what a MONOPOLY is. You are just buying into the biased media frenzy. When big Bell went out and bought all the small telco companies back in the 60’s and 70’s, that was a monopoly. When Oracle is trying to buy out all the CRM competition, they are trying to create a monopoly. Or when Infor starts swallowing all the smaller ERP companies, they are trying to create a monopoly.
When you come up with a good product that everyone is buying willingly and not by force that is not a monopoly. The reason Microsoft was labeled a monopoly was because big blue and others could not compete with them and had to resort to negative tactics to slow down their growth and stop erosion in their user base. IF they were truly a monopoly, you bet that US Govt had split the company just the way they split up AT&T/big bell
Let’s face the facts, the reason we have computers everywhere is because of Microsoft. They turn a product that was for the elite into a product for everyone. Did Apple do you a favor by coming out with first Mac that was priced for the rich? Or did they change course over the years to create a more affordable Apple environment? Did IBM continued their OS2 strategy and come up with an OS that was better and cheaper? No, neither of the companies did, even thou they had the resources and the money to do it.
Sad thing is we all like to point fingers. We do not want to do any research and find facts and worst of all we want everything for free, even if it means stealing.

US is not the world there are many things other than US, like Europe. Who do tries to make things clear... and yes its the fact you may have not gone through. Also I stated in my other post that How MS established and what are the basis of windows. Please do care to read them :)

Re: Pirated copies won't work on Windows Vista
I believe someone pointed out how Microsoft copies ideas from others. I personally don't see anything wrong with it. They might take good ideas, add their own touch, and sell it. It's not as if they're blatantly stealing other ideas and products.
Re: Pirated copies won't work on Windows Vista
Is there anything original in this world. Everything has been done somewhere in some form. We all take things from others and add our own expertise. There's nothing wrong with that, this is the way we humans learn, operate and prosper.
It is not about whose idea it was; there are lots of people with good ideas but ZERO execution. Without execution there is nothing. Take a example of Windows NT and IBM OS2. That started as a joint project but microsoft executed better and were successful. IBM on the other hand did not succeded even thou they had all the money and the talent.
Why are we punishing and bashing Microsoft for being able to execute better than others. Lets not forget, because of their better execution, pricess specially in enterprise software have gone down in a drastic way. They are the reason why software is a commodity and we reap the benefits.

Microsoft Tightens Vista Transfer Rights Under New License
You’ll be able to transfer Vista legally to only one PC other than the one you buy Vista for.
Elizabeth Montalbano, IDG News Service

Microsoft said today it will limit the number of machines to which users can transfer the Windows Vista OS licenses, to just one system beyond the original PC.
When Windows Vista is available, consumers will be able to transfer the OS license they purchase to only one machine other than the one for which they originally buy Vista, says Shanen Boettcher, a Windows general manager at Microsoft. He says Microsoft thinks the change makes sense because “lifetimes for PCs are getting longer.” Most likely, a user will not need to transfer an OS license to more than one computer during the time that OS is the latest one available, Boettcher says.
“It’s a fit for what most customers do,” he says. Boettcher adds that XP did not have a specific limit for the number of times the license was transferable, but that Microsoft wanted to be “specific” about transfer rights with Vista.
Not So, Says User
One Windows user in New York says that one transfer is “probably enough for most people.” However, the user, who asked not to be named, says the change may encourage Windows piracy among PC enthusiasts who update their machines on a more regular basis. “Power users will pirate what they need,” he says.
Another change Microsoft has made to Windows client licensing after Windows XP is that only two versions of Vista–Windows Vista Ultimate and Windows Vista Business–can be run as a virtual OS in a virtual machine.
“Virtualization is a new technology, and it’s primarily used in the business space and by technology enthusiasts,” Boettcher says. “It fits in well with the target audience for these [Windows versions].” Windows XP did not have any restrictions on running in a virtual environment, he adds.
Vista Antipiracy Features Also Tightened
Microsoft also has tightened up antipiracy features in Vista, and users who do not verify that their version of the OS is authentic with a software license key within 30 days of its activation will lose the use of certain features of the PC until they do so. The company unveiled this characteristic of Vista, called its Software Protection Platform, about two weeks ago.
Joel Richman, a Windows user in Boston, says that as long as the process of checking for pirated software “does not stop my workflow in the middle of the day,” he approves of this change to Vista’s license. “As a consumer, I wouldn’t want a pirated version of [Vista] because I want all the support I expect to go with a licensed piece of software,” Richman says.

you know.... patent is also a thing created by US... so be on rules :)
Re: Pirated copies won’t work on Windows Vista
See, you just proved your n00bness… your arguments are weak. You are just trying desperately, and not very effectively might I add, to justify your thieving behaviour.
Re: Pirated copies won’t work on Windows Vista
Aaho, you obviously have no clue about monopolies and the market and laws associated with it. Boston brought up the US Government because MS is an AMERICAN company governed by the AMERICAN government.
It’s funny how you seem to hate this company, MS, so much but still steal their product. You’re a walking contradiction my friend.

and I am not stealing rather using other OS..... but describing MS.
