Pimples..

what should one do to get rid of pimples.. ( what medication to take, what food not to eat to avoid getting pimples on face )
any help would be highly appreciated.

Re: Pimples..

Avoid eating any junk food and spices in desi food. Wash ur face everyday with an acne face wash preferably Neutrogena and try to put ulta clearasel (cream) on ur pimples.

Re: Pimples..

Re: Pimples..

It's difficult to watch your food. But so true. We always have weeks of eating healthy boiled veggies, and then my skin is smooth, but then you get tired of eating that and you miss your massalay bharay foods and roti and when I eat more garam food [which is what massalay bharay foods are], I notice they come back.

Food really does cause more pimples coming out, but it's hard to watch it. Sometimes you need the spice, you want to change your zaika, you can't eat the same kind of food every day.

Drinking a lot of water allows 'garbage' of your metabolism to be washed out through sweat and urine so it doesn't come out on your skin in the form of pimples.

You could try this mask on your pimples; mix 2 tsp honey, 1 tsp haldi [turmeric] and 1/4 tsp sea salt and apply the mixture on the pimples, you can also use it on clean skin as prevention. Leave it on for at least 15 minutes, 30 minutes is better, the longer it stays on your skin, the better it is, so if possible, leave it on a whole night, put an old shirt on you pillow.

Re: Pimples..

Frozenfire, i've found that stuff with caffeine in it gives me pimples. so maybe you could try cutting down on coffee, chocolate, and soda pops. also, check out this website: www.proactiv.com. i've been using their combination therapy system and my skin has gotten better.

Re: Pimples..

oh, and like sadya said, drinking lots of water definitely also helps.

Re: Pimples..

spicy and oily desi curries wreck havoc on the skin :( i usually cook my own food with little or no oil but when mom makes biryani and chicken karahi i cant control myself....but frozen fire u have to figure out what works for YOUR skin in particular....because i have seen people that eat as much buttered parathas with oily saalan as they want and they dont break out....trial and error might help u in determining what exactly makes your skin breakout...is it the desi curry, chocolate, caffeine, a certain face lotion (a certain ingredient), bacteria from your pillow, hands or towels etc etc.
and then to eliminate them i find salicylic acid better than benzoyl peroxide which is way too harsh for my skin and makes it peel. basically zinc, salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide and tea tree oil products are used for pimples. and aloe vera and soy based creams can be used for scars left by the pimples. but these are the cost efficient methods for mild acne. if u have serious scarring....microdermabrasion and chemical peels/facials are more effective.

Re: Pimples..

I have found cinnamon toothpast to work wonders that too overnight.
