Pimples on jawline and other issues - Help please

Hello awesome experts of GS. Here’s a few issues I’m experiencing.

  • Tiny pimples along jawline (not a lot but enough to bother me)
  • Very sensitive skin, redness on cheeks, not every day but some days

Skin is combination to oily, visible pores, dull and dehydrated (oh, and these are before Ramadan, so not because of fasting).

Have been using Demalogica, then switched to Cetaphil Cleanser. Can’t seem to find a good moisturizer for day and night.

What cleanser and moisturizers would you recommend. Any other products? Thank you so much.

Breakouts along the jawline are associated with hormone fluctuations. In terms of moisturizer, I use Say Yes to Tomatoes daily balancing moisturizer. I got it from Ulta, it's light and doesn't leave me feeling oily. I use the DDF brightening cleanser, it has glycolic acid in it.

Have you tried the Mario Badescu line? They carry it at Ulta. I've bought two masks from there that I like and they also have a salicylic and glycolic cleanser for breakouts at a reasonable price compared to other aha cleansers. They also have a good variety of moisturizers.

In terms of natural remedies, yogurt and turmeric are good for breakouts. You can make a mask from besan, yogurt and haldi. Vinegar...specifically ACV is also good for skin. I personally like raw honey...as it's anti-bacterial and moisturizing.

I might be wrong but the symptoms you explained sound like mild Rosacea. Redness with fine acne.
Avoid any harsh cleansers, soaps etc and abrasives .
Cetaphil lotion is what my dermatologist also recommended, at least it wont aggravate the sensitive skin.
Dalacin T lotion and Duac acne gel both will calm down the acne and flused skin.

@RV, i think she should skip any AHAs for now, these might aggravate the sensitivity.

Niks...do you wear your hair down very often?

When I get pimples along my jawline...I do a few things to control them:

I start tying my hair back
Stop touching
Guzzling water (at least 1.5 liters a day)
Change my pillow case out every other day

This usually helps a lot with it...the tying of hair I mention because I think some people with sensitive skin end up breaking out when they keep bangs that touch their face, wear their hair down so it constantly touches the sides of their face, etc.

Thanks RV and SF. I'll be sure to check those out. I was looking at the Yes to Tomato line also, but didn't know if it really worked.

Reha, I wear my hair down most of the time :O

Having tried cetaphil, neutrogena etc. I can say that you can give DCL B Prox 10 a try. It works wonders for me. You can order it from amazon

I've always had on and off problem with spots, not sure if yours is similar but Ive recently started using the Elemis Papaya Tri Enzyme cleanser and it has worked absolute wonders on my skin. I massage it on and wipe off with a flannel, then I spray my face with rose water. My current winning formula. Alhumdulilah; has massively imporved the condition of my skin.

I drink ACV regularly but I have a friend who swears by using it as a toner, attributes this to her skin clearing up (especially around jaw line for the first time in ages)

PCG, I thought so too, but I'm already on that regimen...been a while too.

I had a horrible breakout all over recently ever since I got pregnant due to hormonal changes Im assuming. what really helped me is Neutrogena Clear Pore cleanser/mask. its basically a facewash but its also mask, you apply it and leave it on for few minutes then wash it off like facewash. it really helped within 3 days. Also, pure tea tree oil helps too, i just dab it all over where i have pimples. so far these 2 things have been working really good for me.

Vitamin C serum does wonders for dull skin. That’s the #1](http://www.paklinks.com/gs/usertag.php?do=list&action=hash&hash=1) thing I’d recommend for dull skin. Get a good one and use it every morning. Although in the first week, you many want to use it every other day just so your skin gets used to it.

As for the rest…..visible pores, oily skin, acne…..my personal recommendation would be the usual. Retin a (if you’re not pregnant or breastfeeding) and some type of chemical peel once every 2 weeks (Lactic is the best choice for sensitive skin).

  1. Why are you not happy with Cetaphil cleanser?

  2. As for moisturizers, during the day, a good Vitamin C serum should do the job. For nighttime, I’ve found the best and cheapest solution to be some type of oil (Argan, avocado, rosehip, grapeseed, jojoba etc.; Tons to choose from).

Thank you everyone. Very detailed suggestions. You guys are amazing :)

Paheli, I do like Cetaphil. I was just looking for additional suggestions. Have to check out the oils. But would they make my already somewhat oily skin look oily?

Re: Pimples on jawline and other issues - Help please

I had same issues...but what worked for me is Dove Extra sensitive soap and Olays Sensitive skin lotion:)

Re: Pimples on jawline and other issues - Help please

If you like Cetaphil, then its best to stick with it. Why fix something that’s not broken? For something different once or twice a week, you should look into oil cleansing method (OCM). I believe we do have a few other threads on it so a search on this forum or on Google should bring up plenty of information.

As for the oil, no, if you get a light oil such as Jojoba and apply a bit, it should not make your skin oily (Jojoba is also a cheap/great choice for OCM). But here’s what I’m wondering about…is your skin dry at all? Are there times when your skin feels dry? Because if your skin is oily ALL the time and never feels dry at all…then why do you need to apply a moisturizer every day AND night?

My skin does have dry patches. It’s oily in the T zone only. I guess I need to try these oils out.

The easiest way to get rid off pimples is to drink Lemon juice early in the morning.
