pimple marks and small pits/holes on face

Please suggest how to cure pimple marks and small pits/holes on face left by pimples/acnes?

Re: pimple marks and small pits/holes on face

The marks will fade anyway but u can speed up the process with Retin-A or try a peel (TCA, lactic or glycolic) to peel off those top layers of skin.. The small pits are more problematic, u can’t ‘get rid’ of those but if you use a strong enough peel you could take enough away to be left with much smoother skin.. If you’re going that deep tho you’d defo need a professional (doing it yourself and making a mistake could leave you with permanent scars or pigmentation problems)..

A severe case treated with a TCA peel:

A newer method is dermarolling.. (a roller with little needles in it that make tiny punctures in ur skin then that skin ‘repairs’ itself).. You would need the deeper needles tho and it would hurt. It does work but it would take longer than a peel..

Pinkyy, where are you located? My friend is getting married and she had dermal fillers done to get rid of her pitted acne scars...face looks really smooth now!

^Where did she get them done?

Fillers do work but most are not permanent and will need to be repeated and topped up (not good if ur spending hundreds of pounds/dollars on the injections each time).. The most common filler, Restylane, will typically only last 6-9 months..

Other methods can fix the problem permanently.. (a TCA peel can sort the problem for good in under two weeks)..

there is skin discoloration, and then you have the scarring. skin discoloration does go away by itself eventually. however, you can speed up the process by exfoliating, either mechanically (scrubs, dermabrasion) or chemically (peels)

the pitting or holes in the face are the acne scars. they are usually of 3 types, box, rolling and ice-pick. a dermatologist can tell what kind of scars you have by looking at you. however, these scars aren’t easily treatable and they usually don’t go away by themselves. they can fade or get lighter, depending on how deep they are but usually they need some kind of intervention. treatment of such scars should be tailored to the individual’s condition, but the common treatments are

  • exfoliation
  • dermabrasion
  • chemical peels - for this usually very strong peels are required and they have to be done at least 3-5 times. strong as in it hurts and you need to stay inside for a week to let your face heal. also these kind of peels should never be done at home, they should be done in the clinic.
  • laser - CO2 laser is the one recommended these days
  • fillers
  • surgery

surgery is the sure-fire way to treat acne scars, however laser is coming into the forefront as well. surgery usually you need to go into the clinic once, but the downtime is at least a week. laser you have to go in for a few sessions but the down time is minimal.
