In my first ever trip to Dubai in the end of May this year ,I had noticed on KBW Road ,that numerous Guys and Gals flocking on the road side, just infront of Palm Beach hotel(Their sister concern is York). They were fully drunk and gals were standing and posing and inviting people ,who would passby the road.In my last trip nearly two weeks back,I saw the same group and I enquired with somebody about their presence. He said the gals were call girls and would take any customer to the adjacent building .I was totally surprised to see that this gang is operating without any hinderance and police do not not even stop by.I asked the person who gave me details of their activities as to why police do not have a check on them.He said police would not interfere unless there were any complaint.Almost everyday I saw them on the road and begining to wonder why police do not act or is it a deliberate strategy by poilice not to involve in these matters,so that Dubai will get more customers?
The funniest thing was,I went to York on a saturday night and opposite to me were two Guys and gals sitting.I thought they were just friends but as I was walking past the same group on KBW road after an hour or so, I heard somebody calling me `Hey’.As I looked back I saw the same gals standing nearby a car in the darkness and inviting me.I got disgusted and walked away.
yaar Arls-whilst im not denying it doesnt happen in almost ever shehar- ur hanging out at the wrong places.....................................!!!!!!!!..........................;)

u shld have atleast asked the price....
and abt british couple, they shld have rented the rooom ;)
I think Dubai is indeed a city of hipocrisy ... it is actually getting bad on the roads of Dubai , recently friends and I were discussing that at night its sometimes scary to be on the roads , they just take you for a call girl ! Many hotels provide the "guest service " upon request
There was a time when it was very different , that was the time of Sheikh Zayed ...
Hard to believe this happens in Dubai, where a British couple was arrested for making out on the beach :)
Yes but it happens in Dubai.
The British couple later said they were just pecking, sitting at the beach.Anyway who knows the truth?
But this incident, indeed stopped me away from going to my friend's apartment. She is a Philippino and is a good friend of mine.I was planning to go to her room just to meet her(She is a teacher and is hired from Philippines). My cousin upon knowing this warned me saying that one could be arrested and tried .(He said police do conduct surprise raids in apartments).According to the law in Dubai ,two strangers if found in a room ,could be arrested and tried.Sometimes back,a British lady (who ran a company in Dubai and a multi-millionaire) and her boyfriend were arrested after they were coming out of a hotel room at 2.A.M .Police waiting outside the hotel immediately arrested both and put them behind bars. It's said that the British Lady's husband only tipped-off Police. :D

Don't you think there is a difference between soliciting in public place & actually DOING IT in a public place? Besides details of British couple incident are not clear, hence it can not be compared with this personal experience.
^Xeno..you have actually deleted the subject.Infact I encountered people belonging to that `race' only.I did not find people belonging to any other race doing these stuffs in Public.I still do not know why you did delete that N***O part!!!
^ Arlleitter That particular word is considered offensive generally. AV policies do not allow singling out any particular race by using words which are considered offensive for them.
Publishing assistant Michelle Palmer, 30, and a visiting British man were arrested after allegedly being found in a clinch on Jumeirah beach following an afternoon of drinking.
The man, named locally as "Vince" met Ms Palmer at a party while he was staying with one of her colleagues from the Middle Eastern publishing company ITP.
Their arrests come amid a crackdown on "indecent" sunbathing and public kissing in Dubai, part of the United Arab Emirates.
Friends claimed the couple have since gone through a hasty civil marriage ceremony to reduce any possible sentence they might face as sex outside of marriage is illegal in Dubai.
She is also said to be facing possible charges of indecent behaviour in public, being drunk in public, and assaulting a police officer.
The incident last Friday came after an afternoon of drinking which began at the Alpha Club at Le Méridien Hotel near Dubai's airport.
The 30-year-old attended a "late brunch", with unlimited drinks - including beer, wine and spirits. Running for three hours until 7pm the event offered unlimited drinks for a flat fee of 250 dirhams (£34.50).
She then moved on to a nearby club where friends say that she was arguing with Vince.
It is alleged that several member of group, including Vince, were later ejected for fighting.
They then moved on to a popular pub known as Long's Bar in a hotel on the city's skyscraper-lined Sheikh Zayed Road.
Friends said that Michelle was in tears at the bar, because Vince was "being nasty" to her.
"Just after that they were caught for having sex on the beach - and the next thing we knew, they were married," one said.
But it is alleged that later that evening the pair were found in a compromising position on the beach by a passing policeman.
He reportedly let them off with a caution but, when they were discovered in the same position shortly afterwards, they were arrested.
Miss Palmer is then said to have become aggressive toward the policeman.
"Because this is known everywhere they're going to make an example of us and we're going to get a higher sentence," she is quoted as saying.
"We are in so much trouble and my family and everybody are affected. Until someone is in this situation they could never know what it's like. It's bad - it's so, so bad."
A Foreign Office spokesman confirmed that two British nationals had been arrested in Dubai.
"We are providing consular assistance", he said.

So soliciting openly is fine as long as you do the work after that indoors ? :)
Anyways, it seems like the British couple were just pecking, and not actually DOING IT as I had thought. That makes this even more hypocritical, don't you think ??
UAE advocates decency and modesty- however this isnt to say that "misdemeanours" occur such as the Palmer episode - granted that Dubai isnt as strict as its counterparts of Abu Dhabi and Sharjah....on the whole , modesty is encouraged but there are people through lack of sheer ignorance or plain stupidity "practise" such affairs that can lead them to be held accountable for their actions.....I know that some companies and firms hold a pretty stringent induction programme for new expats adopting UAE s their home which I think is quite a good thing....

when did I say it makes it right! Both cases are on different levels by moral and legal standards, but it doesn't make ANY of these two acceptable.
You tell me what you will find** more** disgusting? A person coming to you and TALKING about it or a couple DOING IT in front of you?

. If these two were making out infront of victoria palace or any public place in London, they wud have landed in jail also.

is it from DAily MAIL?
Also, were not they warned by police and they still kept doing it (lets say pecking in this case) and were arrested LATER?
also did this article any where mentioned that what happens in UK if you are abusive to a Police officer or resist arrest?
Anyway that is irrelavent because we are good at it. if a 18 years old British "boy" or "girl" gets arrested in foreign country in possession of illegal drugs, our media simply says that they were tricked by evil local grug smuglers.
