Is it permissible for a woman to take pills to delay menstruation inorder to perform Umrah ?
Or is it considered tampering with nature ?
Re: Pills to delay menstruation.
You could give this a read
Taking pills to prevent period in the last ten days of Ramadaan"We do not think that she should use these pills to help her worship Allaah, because the period which happens to her is something which Allaah has decreed for the daughters of Adam. "
And this
Taking pills to prevent menses in order to observe i’tikaaf
“It is permissible to take pills to prevent menses in order to be able to do acts of worship such as i’tikaaf, ‘umrah and Hajj, but that is subject to the condition that they should not be harmful to the body”
Guess it would differ from scholar to scholar.
And Allah knows best.
Re: Pills to delay menstruation.
I believe we are allowed to use the pills to stop the period during Hajj or Umrah. But it is discouraged because it can affect a woman's health and body.
In some places , I have even read that Hazrat Aisha bled during hajj with prophet SAW . The only ritual you cant do in that state is prayers and Tawaf. You can do Tawaf , before you finish with your ihraam.
A lot of scholars say , Allah has decreed menstruation on women and if one starts during Hajj or Umrah, then instead of feeling low or suppressing it, she should accept it as Allah's will.
But not many of the scholars have rejected the use of pills either, as long as you are under the care of a physician who ensures your health is not compromised and that you stop taking the pills as soon as your purpose is served ( no prolonged use of the pills )
Considering the time, money and energy it requires to plan out Hajj abd Umrah, it will be extremely unfair if a woman reached Mecca from New Zealand, only to realize that her period has started.
A lady can plan her umrah around her dates, but what about hajj?
It just makes common sense to use the pills if needed
