ISLAMABAD: Wild boars entered the premises of the parliament on Friday as the balloting for Senate elections was underway. Eyewitnesses told Daily Times that a small herd of wild boars entered the premises of the parliament from a green area near the Supreme Court building. They said that the herd was stopped by police personnel as it was headed towards the parking lot. The police personnel and other staff made noise and pelted stones at the boars at which they turned back and fled. However, one of them could not find the way out and got trapped in the bushes but later ran away as well. Hilarious scenes were witnessed as the policemen were seen hitting the bush with sticks. Eyewitnesses said the sudden appearance of the wild boars within the parliament premises scared everyone, including the police personnel. The federal capital has a significant population of wild boars though they rarely come out in the open in daytime. The wild boar population lives near brooks and streams, the marshy area around the Rawal Lake, Shakarparian and at the foothills of the Margallahs. staff report
