Might be kind of an obvious question but how does someone’s choice of words impact their faith?
Re: Piety and Profanity
If I am not wrong in my understanding of other religion, they all are agreed on basic moral values of society/individuals and teach the lesson of respect.

Pious people do not use profanity. Hypocritical pious people do.

Re: Piety and Profanity
i wont say too much, mainly because im not sure on my own knowledge on this subject, and because good language is prefered islamically, but theres no absolute barr on bad language. for example, i think i know, harsh language was used against the disbelievers. of course this is all jihad dynamics
also bad language alone doesnt make someone a hypocrit, even when used in innappropiate circumstances. a believer can make mistakes but a hypocrit is another breed alltogather. a hypocrit is more likely to be found denying jihad or something, just as Allah SWT describes them in His Book
Re: Piety and Profanity
basically he/she shouldnt be using ''f'' word, its in our rights to point this out but to make long winded further assumptions on the person is wrong on us
Re: Piety and Profanity
Peace,
The choic of words, thoughts, acts are due to the our Nafs (soul). The Holy Qur'an describes three types of "Nafs" souls.
1- Nafs Al Ammarah which soul is persistent enjoiner of evil.
2- Nafs Al Lawwamah which soul is self-reproaching spirit (eschew evil).
3- Nafs Al Mutmainnah which sould is the righteous soul complete in rest and satisfaction. Neither persistent enjoiner of evil nor reaproaching spirit.
Re: Piety and Profanity
Even pious people are humans and prone to mistakes like all of us.
Pious or not one should always avoid profanity. Moreover, who are we to judge others. What a person may seem to be isn't necessarily how he/she really is.All matters are with Allah & its he who will judge us on the day of judgement.
Re: Piety and Profanity
Peace LP,
Pious pplz like 'Wali-Allah', 'Sufiya-e-Karam' never prone to any mistake (I think).
Moreover when a person do acceptable act, we admire him if he do unacceptable act (wrong doing) than we say who we are to judge him. why?
Re: Piety and Profanity
How do these 2 scenarios diff from each other?
- A pious (lets say muslim) raising his hand for dua and saying "Oh Allah, please destroy these kuffars (non-Muslims).
- Same pious person coming across a kafir and telling him 'F you' or 'F off'
