Thanks for the info, but i think it's asian history:P I have never heard of it by the way, not even from my cousins in pak. Thats weird, if it's that common?? Anyway why did you change urs, if you find it ridiculous?
It's pretty common. I think I first heard it when I was rather young. Some aunties at a wedding were looking for rishtas. I was 12 I believe. They were sitting in the row behind me and picking out random girls and then proceeded to reject one because of her piercing..! Anyway, I ended up asking my friends and they said it was true. Turns out, even today, people believe the same thing.
Yes, it is ridiculous. Reason I got it changed was because I will be going to Pakistan to get all the wedding shopping only a few weeks ahead of time. So I will be buying a ready-made nath. I won't have time to get one made and so I had to change it.
PS: I have no problems standing up against what I believe is wrong.
