I'm with what maddy posted. I think actions depend on intentions. If somebody wants to take pics of their kids/family/friends or keep them as memories, I don't see any harm in it. However, I think when in Islam the issue of pics not being allowed is mentioned, I would say it refers to stuff such as pornography.
Until the advent of Renaissance in Europe and it’s pressures on to the islamic world, painting lifelike protraits was haram, so was havin glive models haram. Taking pictures would have gotten you killed. Islam forbade drawing in the likeness of a person/living thing because of perfection being only in the hands of allah..(read my signature). SO for 85% of islamic history, portraits, pictures etc were haram. Evil western influence changed that and now you have muslims running around taking/posting thier pics, drawing animals and birds and people…without a care for what Allah has to say. You all should be ashamed. :nono:
not that i'd touch a P&S no matter how many pixels it has.. it's a matter of 'sawaab'.. making a Muslim brother get rid of the fitnah..
i'll even pay for shipping.. rid ye self of the evil picture maker o' Muslim .. refuse to get photographed as it's akin to participating in the evil act of making pictures... if that means not having to live in kaffir countries that require that mugshot for the visa.. so be it.. u can always go back to Afghanistan and hope for the Taleban to take over again..
i think majority of the scholars r of the opinion that photography by cameras is by no means same as painting or sketching a portrait....
and hence the same ruling does not apply....
but hanging the photos, painted or camera snapped, in rooms etc is forbidden anyway....
The computer you use to paticipate in this thread to discuss ** if picture is haram** actually generate digital image/picture to display whatever is being typed. Your act of participation on this thread is nothing but an act of ** creating a digital picture**. Hence, all of you have been guity of blasphamy. :D
Sinners!!
^^ That’s how your mind set becomes when you have nothing but ignorance in regard’s to the understanding of your religion.
Mat I never thought I would ever agree with you, but damn you are right.
Ahammad Pa Ji, in islam there is no clause for not doing business with any queer. But regardless I need my camera for my business as I use it for that purpose 90% of the time anyways. ( And trying to cut down the rest of the 10% )
And how is looking at someone’s picture is looking at a mirror ?
PA It’s ok brother no need to get excited, its been taken care of.
Desinum1 You do not make sense at all. How does me writing some lines/paragraph’s equates to making a or taking a picture ?
ok i am confused. My PC is a picture of what ? and you did not elaborate on your statment that Islam does not like doing business with queer ? Please calrify as requested. Thank you.
Alhumdullilah its good to know of your resolve. Please stay away from pictures, the answer by shaykh albani posted in this thread is quite brilliant, and should dispel most doubts. Also that the Prophet (saws) shunned pictures of living things even where "shirk" was not the issue, should provide enough evidence for any muslim. I pray that Allah (swt) gives you the strength.
Ignore the idiotic and sarcastic remarks by some guppies. People will fight against evidence and do just about anything to defend their own lifestyles.
But hey no need to get rid of the camera. Landscape photography is a lot of fun.. give it a try.
Before you take landscape picture, make sure “no living” creature is hiding in the landscape. Because, even if it is not visible to the naked eye, it may appear in the picture once zoomed/developed. So just get rid of the camera.
Before both of you open your sarcastic mouth, living being is condiered who has a sole. But I know this answer wouldnt do you guy’s any good as you are one of those people who like to make a mockery out of the religion rather than understanding it completely.
**Ammar bhai ** Thank you for your kind words. Much appreciated.
Those who say that photography is permitted have “frozen” the meaning of the word “tasweer,” restriciting it only to the meaning known at the time of the Prophet :saw:](http://63.175.194.25/images/saws.gif) (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and not adding the meaning of photography, which is “tasweer” or “picture-making” in every sense - linguistic, legal, and in its harmful effects, and as is clear from the definition mentioned above. Years ago, I said to one of them, By the same token, you could allow idols which have not been carved but have been made by pressing a button on some machine that turns out idols by the dozen. What do you say to that?"
SalmanNY, that's great, masha'Allah and thanks for sharing.
I spent quite a lot of time over it and alhamdulillah I'm quite satisfied with what I'm following. Nonetheless, I'll ask around for more opinions (for myself), insha'Allah (if I can remember).
