Picking Up and Moving On

When bad things happen, how do you gather the courage to face your challenges, and fight them head on instead of getting all bogged down in sadness, regret, and worry?

Re: Picking Up and Moving On

It depends on individual, how strong are you. Some people make big fuss about things and some people shows lot of patience. I think if you are a positive person and have a positive attitude towards life then you will be able to face challenges more easily.

Best way to face challenge is first of all you have to forget about past. Don’t regret , what is gone was not meant for you. Throw this feeling out of your mind that it was your fault, only think how can you survive current situation. People who live in past are never successful, so first stop regretting, start your life with new beginning. Second have faith that I can survive this challenge, it’s not impossible. Be positive about facing challenge, it will give you a lot of courage.

Re: Picking Up and Moving On

I don’t know about sadness, but as for worry, I read Dale Carnegie’s book “How to stop worrying and start living” and the best advice I got from that book was to mentally accept the worst case scenario. For example, failing an exam. Okay, that would suck but you could retake the course, and still graduate so it’s not the end of the world. You’re not injured, you have a roof over your head. Life is not all that bad. Then you can start to work towards preventing the worst case scenario, if possible. It sounds simple but mentally going through this helps a lot.

Another thing was to take things one day at a time. Just focus on what you have to do that day. Compartmentalizing helps. People spend so much energy worrying and regretting things that it just sucks our energy. Think about the past when you’ve worried about something endlessly, and nothing happened. How much time did you waste on that?

As for gathering the courage to keep going, I have met countless incredibly successful people who succeeded because they kept getting back up. Resilience is probably more important than talent. Your question might not be related to obtaining a goal, but the same principles apply. You have to keep your feet moving and keep at it. Self pity does nothing. It might feel “good”, in a pervasive way, but it’s self defeating.

gherty hai shehsawaar he madaanee jung mai.

dealing with failure/regret is hard.
Ppl develop different ways of dealing with it ,it something you learn over time with experience .
Probably the best way is to try live in present.try not to dwell on past …easly said then done.
Actively think positve, write Down Think Positive on a piece of paper and put in in on wall/table where u can see it all the time ..make it ur computer screen saver.

there are things which you never forget/regret but you learn to live with them.

For religious ppl its easy"leave it to God".

This is a good talk by King Khan, might help.

It is easier said then. The one who is going through..knows it. And of course Allah. So..jab tak sans hai..jab tak jeena hai har lamhon ke sath.

Re: Picking Up and Moving On

This is the exact reason why I believe certain extremely tough situations and trials in our past even occur. I’ve had one past experience which was so harsh that now when smtng negative happens I tell myself if u could deal with what happened in the past, this is nothing. Sometimes our past is a blessing in desguise.
