I enjoy flying and have got my lisence to fly a glider. If you want I can upgrade this to commercial flying. If you want me to be a main pilot, get in touch.
I think it was a mistake getting in touch with PIA, they will probably nick our idea now!!!
Why don't we let passengers serve themselves, then we won't have nasty air hostesses to complain about. We will brief the passengers 10 minutes before they board. We will tell them to arrive 6 hours before flight departure time. (Currently the passengers get to the airports 2 minutes before departure, with this new time quoting they should get there 9 minutes before departure!!!)
Come on guys.... it isn't that bad!
I went to Pakistan for the first time in 98 then again in 99 both times taking PIA from Toronto. And I was very pleased with the service, it wasnt anything ROYAL but KLM or AIR canada was no better!. I think the passengers should be blamed just as much. I have flown Air Canada, and KLM airlines to different destinations in the past as well. From what I see, our Pakistanti people abuse our airline and do what the hell they want on our "APNA" plane. But at the same time, they wouldnt dare do that on KLM, or American Airlines, its the "goras" plane thats why, they are on their best behaviour. They won't ask for anything unless given to them. They wont harass the hostess, they wont dirty the washroom, they will be very polite, etc, etc, etc... you all know what i mean. I see the same crap in Pakistani/Indian restaurants from our people, stupid behaviour and disrespect for our own people and businesses but very obedient and decent behaviour in non-Pakistani or north american establishments. Becauase wahan to hum MEHMAAN hai na... PIA to apna hai?????
And no, I dont work for PIA and I dont own a restaurant either, just what I have observed that always made me sick, disrespect for our own people and utmost respect for the others. I was always the opposite, I always told off the gora if I didnt get fair service or proper response. But I always showed tolerance towards my own, maybe just by islamic upbringing or whatever. Anyways, lets be fair people... respect our own first!
We can call it whatever we want
Perhaps I Arrive
Please Inform Allah
Punjab International Airline or
Pain In the Ass
But what we forgetting is who make the PIA, we do nobody come from abroad and run this institution for us. They are one of us just like us.
And why we forget that those airhostesses are just like our sisters. I have noticed if there is a pretty airhostess guys bug them and ask them unecssary things or services just because they can get a chance to feast their eyes. They are there to serve you "ap ka dil lubhanay kay liay naheen."
So what if she is not flirting with you. Haven't you noticed how desi guys stare at girl/s, like they will eat her alive, may be that makes our airhostesses uncomfortabe and irritate them which affects their performance. [So if you see something like that just be on her side ( don't you worry sister I got your back, that punk would not dare do anything to you) Just the way you protect our own biological sister/s.]
In the end all I want to say is Our institutions are our reflection. Want to change them change yourself.
I flew PIA once, back in '84 to Karachi.
Must admit, it was good. Now it's a totally dif. story. My travel agent actually told me that the PIA fleet is now well overdue for replacement, but although the money has been sanctioned for acquiring new aircraft, the fleet purchasers want cash-back deals from the manufacturers before agreeing to buy from them. This has prolonged and delayed the purchase of new planes. Some of the fleet craft are now over 25 years old!!!
They will start dropping out of the skies dead birds (his words - not mine!). Yes, he was a Pakistani, too.
I used to fly to Bombay every 3 months on business, and having tried almost all the airlines flying LHR - Bom sector, I settled down with GulfAir. Service was good, most frequency of daily flights, and a heck of a
lot cheaper than BA, Air India or PIA!
Brand new aircraft, too. Desi rudeness is intolerable from any airline. Unfortunately, most Gulf Air crew are Indians and Pakis.
Strongman...you're so right. It's the desi Passengers uncouth behavior which probably brings out the worst in staff. I will only speak in my poshest British accent when addressing ANY desi official. It's very entertaining to see a complete personality change in them when they realise that I'm not a typical paki. (it borders on embarrasment).
Treat them with respect, speak politely but firmly, be cordial, and above all....smile!
It works wonders. I have been upgraded on packed flights on so many occassions now that its become a norm.
Moral: you use what you have to get what you want........with a touch of class!!!
let's all adopt that, shall we.
yeah ny and ghalib.
i can handle the business aspect.
send me some money so I can fly and go talk to a few venture capital firms.
anyways going back to PIA. I have seen desi folks act like total jerks on the flights...even of aran airlines once u fly from London all is fine as son as u stop in middle east and that gentry joins u in the cabin it is like a fish market...cant obey any rules...give eberyone a hard time and treat airhostesses like I see stuck up aunties treat their servants in Pakistan.
Still the aircraft and ground staff should recognize that if someone has a genuine question and is treating them with respect that they should respond in like manner.
I for one have issues with service operations in general. how many have had issues with other airlines and how about banks, utlity companies....airlines are no
exception.
Fraudia Yar,
you are so right.
Reminds me of one time i was flyin with Gulf.
After we left Abu Dhabi one passenger called for the stewardess by makin a specific sound :
TETPPREYYYYYY (OH MAN I WISH I COULD MAKE THAT SOUND FOR U HERE)
(it's that sound people in villages make to make a donkey walk)
Does anybody know what i mean?
