I am flying on 8th Dec from Toronto to Karachi in Economy+ and just wondering if anyone know the seating configuration. Is there a proper divider b/w Economy+ and Economy class or only a curtain? (I called PIA call center and they are as clueless about this as I am)
Actually I want to get a window seat on last Row of Economy+ but then i fear that if its a proper divider (wall) then seat will have a limited recline. Anyone with the experience?
See the image. I want to get seat 27A but fear the restricted recline on long flight
It depends on which flight you're on - specifically what plane. Do let me know and I'll tell you because it varies from plane to plane. PIA's 747 for its european legs has a full partition. Whereas the Toronto legs do not have a solid partition, rather just a curtain.
Regardless, do enjoy the scam they so generously call economy plus. Your 200 dollar premium will buy a curtained wall, and a better meal. Your bum and legs will be treated with the same agonizing tormet as in economy.
Just to avoid economy plus, we availed on a special promotion pia had for business class. It actually turned out pretty good. We'll be going to Pakistan in december too!! Yay!
You are not “FKhan722” from historyofpia.com, are you? Do you actually have a personal experience or its just “some one told me” thing?.
My flight will be 777-200ER and I am taking your words of (No Divider) and reserving the last row Window seat.
Ager restricted recline howa na tu
I again called PIA call center and ask the guy he was like “Sir I dont know” lol … “WHAT??? WHO IS SUPPOSED TO KNOW?”, only then he put me on hold and findout from somewhere that there is a curtain divider and not wall.
We are waiting for our tickets to get confirmed as we too are doing to Pak in december with the PIA .. I am a bit nervous about flying with the PIA, havent done it for a long time .. hope they are o.k!!?
They provide baby cart (basically its nothing but a padded base with 6-8 inch walls around) that passengers can put on the floor, in front of their seats. Oh and btw they have limited quantity on board and provide it on FIRST COME FIRST SERVE basis. Make sure that you board the plane early and ask for one. My wife was not so lucky to get one and she has to carry our 8 months old during whole flight.
If you ask me? I’d say take BOUNCER with you. That’s way better than what they provide and baby will sleep in comfort.
Also ask your travel agent to give you bulkhead seats as those seats have more leg room and you can easily put that cart on the floor.
Ive flown on the 747 last year, and just came back on the 777-200ER. From personal experience, the 777-200ER DOES NOT have a divider. It's just a rag on a pole.
The confusion comes up because PIA is supposed to be flying their 777-200LR from YYZ-KHI. The 777-200LR does have a wall.
Personally, economy plus isnt all it seems. This time around we got a buy 2, get 1 free promotion for business class. Lets see how that goes.
P.S. How did you manage to see the seat availibilities? Is that even from PIA?
^^ From PIA web site. You can reserve a seat of your choice from their web site but for some stupid reason you can not change it (although once i was able to change it but now I cant).
PIA call center guy was telling me stories "Sir no window seat is availble..." when i scared him to death by telling that 27A is available and after that get going was easy. ;) My only worry was that if its a hard wall, most probably seat will have restricted recline!
My first choice is always Window seat on LEFT side of the plane as i can see my home when plane is about to land (yeah I live on 5 min walk from runway in Khi). When you go to Pakistan after 3-4 years, you want to enjoy every moment of it dont you? :)
If you ask me? I’d say take BOUNCER with you. That’s way better than what they provide and baby will sleep in comfort.
Also ask your travel agent to give you bulkhead seats as those seats have more leg room and you can easily put that cart on the floor.
We asked the agent and he said he can reserve a seat with open leg space for us, as for the baby cart, I think she is a bit big for it, we are planning on buying a light stroller for her for the journey, which I hope we can use on the open space in front of us.
Umer, its a new offer/route .. PIA is cooperating with Turkish Airlines, we will be flying to Istanbul via TA and from Istanbul to Islamabad with PIA..
Wow, that's excellent. So you can now fly Vienna-Islamabad with just one stopover in Istanbul. I used to fly Vienna-Istanbul-Karachi-Islamabad with Turkish Airlines.
The problem with bouncer is thats its for small babies and she is one year old, we need a light stroller for the stay in Istanbul’s Airport so that we can roam around, I am hoping they will let us take it on board with our hand bags!
We have a maxi cosi car seat but then its weight and what to do with during our stay at Istanbul ?
Oh well will look into what they give us, will ask the agent if they dont allow a light stroller on board like u said.
Decent6Chora is right. They will only allow you to take the stroller to the boarding gate, but there they will take it from you and you will be without it inside the plane. And then they would usually return it to you at the baggage claim belt.
speaking from experience.....
no major airline will let you take a stroller, no matter how light, on board.
and if they let you take it, they will not let you open it up inside for safety reasons.
you really should find out details Saadia and make alternative arrangements because I travelled with Noor when she was just under 2 years old and had to hold her in my lap for the entire journey.
