PIA Flight Service

Re: PIA Flight Service

bhai jee 14 hours is nothing…I took Singapore Air from LA to Karachi once and it was non-stop 13 hours flight JUST to reach Tokyo …it was around 8 hours flight on Tokyo-Singapore-Karachi sector!

Here is the kicker, I do complain a lot about PIA after every trip but each time I end up flying with them. Actually whenever I am going to Pak on vacation, I want the vacations to start right at JFK …and PIA is Pakistan… and now they have added incentive of ONLY airline allowing 70lb per suitcase and that helps a lot while packing gifts for chachey-mamaey-taeey-and-kahalas …

Re: PIA Flight Service

hmmm....overall it is not a too good experience...
it seems like a bus more than a plane.....
it always seems so overcrowded ...
food is just ok...(i usuallu avoid meals on flights so it does not matter....i just eat the braed they serve with meals with sodas/juice....) ...so is the entertainment....but depends if u like those urdu sitcoms,u might like the entertainment..
personally i would like to travel some other airline, but i always end up with PIA

Re: PIA Flight Service

Air-hostesses are not that friendly.. but the food is great! When I flew, there were two aunties behind me and they kept talking loudly plus they were smelling badly all the time.. since air doesnt come anywhere from outside, you have to contend with the air thats inside.

Re: PIA Flight Service

It sux, i still can’t forget that time when i asked for a glass of water and the hostess asked me to get up and get it myself. Understandebly i’ve never travelled with PIA since.

Re: PIA Flight Service

Looks like its very IN to diss PIA (or anything pakistani  )
Desis biatching about Desis :hehe:

Have travelled a lot with PIA - long haul
Never had any problem - smooth check-ins, timely departures, curteous staff, good and plenty food (extra servings no problem, kids want an extra drink no problem) etc etc etc.

The problem with Kids on board is because PIA is **THE **family airline due to its convenience on the US/Canada - Pakistan route. Most of the people going to pakistan during the summer / winter breaks synchronize their vacations with the kids schedule at school, therefore you get to see lotsof kids on the plane.

so fly PIA next time you go to pakistan from the US or Canada :smilestar:

Re: PIA Flight Service

i think the service of PIA sucks... its strange that all people keep complaining about it and PIA doesnt do anything with the complains.

Re: PIA Flight Service

...because just like everything else, changes to be implemented takes forever in Pakistan.

Re: PIA Flight Service

I have traveled Lufthansa, British, Emirates and PIA. I wouldn't say that PIA is the best, but honestly speaking there isn't much difference in the SERVICE. The problem with PIA is usually the clientele, some are too rude for words and the kids are spoilt rotten. Also, once in a while you could be the victim of some VIP passengers where the whole plane has to wait until they take their sweet time to board.

Other than that, the food is typical airline stuff and the staff are courteous (which can be a tough ask considering the attitude of the passengers). The schedule is really convenient, no long stop overs, just the refueling stop at London. You can't argue with the prices either.

All in all, not a bad option.

[FONT=Times New Roman]Actually, I think that the PIA good. I went from Chicago to Lahore in May, 2005 (my first time ever on PIA) and again in the same year on November, 2005. Before this year, I always went to Pakistan using Kuwait Airways which was like 6-7 hours longer than PIA. Now, I always use PIA. I understand that every person might have a different taste in movies/dramas and food but looking at PIA overall, I didn’t think it was that bad. Now coming to the second part, passing your time on flight. I mostly do a little of everything so I don’t get bored doing the same thing over and over. I always take like 1-2 islamic books with me to read. If you are really interested in taking some Islamic books with you next time you get on the plane, I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend “Companions of the prophet (Vol. 1 & 2) written by Abdul Wahid Hamid. Each of this book cover like life stories of 30-35 sahabas thus, about 70-75 stories in both sets. And these books are written in simple style and are not really that big so don’t worry about the size. I also take my iPod every time I go to kill time along with stuff like drawing book and playing cards. You never know when you might find some1 interesting to play cards with. And of-course chatting with people also help.

[FONT=Times New Roman]Like for example, when I went to Lahore in May, 2005, I had this guy with me from Chicago to Lahore. I mean this guy was so funny (not in telling jokes but in character) that all my relatives laughed when I related his story to them. He was of average height, in his mid-40s, and had black mustache. He was going back to Pakistan after about 4 years after since he settled in USA. he was wearing a black suit with white shirt (without a tie, which is fine) along with sunglasses on top of his head and camera hung around his neck (which was to take photos although he never took any because he said that the camera did not have any film in it and he planned to use it once he gets to Lahore). And this guy never ever took off the camera from around his neck (EVEN WHEN HE WENT TO THE TOILET!!!). So when we were about to land at Manchester Airport for refueling, he told me that he had bought a phone card from Chicago to call Pakistan using the phone at the airport. I asked him why he didn’t call from Chicago and he told me that he wanted to call from London so I told him “Ok, go ahead.” So he goes and comes back after awhile and tells me that the phone card is not working. I told him “Try calling customer service.” Naaaah……just joking. I told him that it will only work within USA. Anyways, coming back to the beginning, when we flew from Chicago, we started talking. He told me about himself and I told him about myself. Everything was going fine until we were about to land at Lahore Airport. When we had about 20-25 minutes in landing, he started talking about how we should only drink purified water (that is sold in bottles in Pakistan) to avoid any illness. And I totally agree with him. So what he did was that he called a air-hostess and asked her for some water to drink. So when she came with 1.5 Liter bottle of water with a glass, he asked her if he can keep the whole bottle so he doesn’t have to ask later. So she is fine with it. He drinks a glass and keeps the rest under his seat. He then looks back to see if she is gone. When he sees a different hostess approaching, he asks her for water too. He asks her for a bottle instead of glass telling her the same story as the first one. He does this like 3-4 times until he is satisfied with what he has piled under his seat. So I kept on watching him carefully (because I had nothing else to do since I was too excited about seeing Lahore again after like 4 years). When he had like 4 bottles of water piled up under his seat, he asks me to put MY blanket (which I WAS USING) to cover the bottles until we are about to land. So to know how far this guy goes, I go like “Sure, why not.” And when we have about 15 minutes before we are about to land at Lahore Airport, the crew member started collecting newspaper, only from those who had it to read, and headphones. This guy had the newspaper and he puts it in his bag. So before the crew member approached our portion of the plane, this guy looks next to him only to find the guy who was sitting next to him on the third seat in toilet. This guy puts his headphones under his pillow and takes the headphones in the seat pocket next to him and gives it to the crew member as his. So once the crew member leaves, he takes those headphones from under the pillow and also puts it in his bag (???Where was he going to use those headphones, in another airplane!?!). WAIT A MINUTE, the story is not over yet. The best is yet to come. So now we have about like 10 minutes before we land. When 5 minutes pass, he looks back to see if the crew members have taken their seats. Upon finding everyone in their places, he fastens his seat-belt (Thank God he didn’t steal that also). When we have like 3-4 minutes before landing, he open the seat pocket in front of him and takes the magazine out along with the PIA Instruction Card (the one that shows you all the emergency exits and doors) and puts them in his bag too. CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS GUY. When we passed through the security and went outside the airport, I was going to ask him what he was going to with all that stuff (probably say that PIA offers their passengers free stuff) but I was so excited to be finally in Lahore and see my relatives that I was like “Aahhhn, forget it. Aish karo.” So was this guy a classic item or what. And yes, he still had his empty camera hung around his neck (even at Lahore Airport). LOL.
