PIA flight makes emergency landing for woman in labour

** PIA flight makes emergency landing for woman in labour**

NEW YORK: A Pakistani lady, travelling by PIA to the United States from Lahore, gave birth to a child in London, contrary to the wish of the couple that their first baby was born in the US.

The lady, her husband and mother-in-law were on board flight PK-711 of Pakistan International Airlines, which was scheduled to stopover at Manchester airport but it did not and the plane was diverted to London’s Heathrow Airport, where the lady gave birth to a baby.

The plane was actually scheduled for refueling at Manchester airport on its way to New York. During the diversion the lady complained labour pains.

The staff of the PIA contacted the Heathrow Airport authorities on emergency basis and thus the ‘dream of an American-born child was replaced with a British-born’ for the 25-years-old Pakistani female.

According to the PIA officials, the lady had given wrong statement at the PIA reservation centre, saying that she was five-month pregnant.

The PIA flight, the officials said, could not land at Manchester because of thick fog and the plane was diverted to London. Before the flight could make approach for landing at the Heathrow Airport the lady complained of labour and four efficient flight stewardesses took her to the back portion of the plane. They laid her on the walkway. The plane then went for emergency landing without loosing time.

A doctor rushed into the plane as soon as it landed while the immigration staff also boarded. The lady was without a British visa, so were all others accompanying her. The Heathrow immigration, therefore, permitted only the patient and her mother to enter Britain and she was rushed in an ambulance to a hospital with her mother for the delivery.

According to other passengers, her husband revealed after the flight took off from Heathrow for Manchester that they wanted their first child to be born in the United States so that it was conferred with the American citizenship.

The family requested on reaching New York to conceal the name of the lady who gave birth to the baby.

I think their plan go messed up by nature. or may be they were too late in implementing.
it could have been dangerous for the lady and baby. if the plane was oflying middle of atalantic.

on social issues, its quite sad though.

PK 711? Yeah, the kid will grow up to be a 711 owner. What kind of stupid people come up with these ideas to have babies delivered in the US? Congratulations to the couple. If they start working on it right away, they may have a chance to have one born in the US too. I think the whole process (from lovie kissie to popping out) takes about 40 weeks.

yea but they may not have visa stay for that long in there thats why they have planned to that in the first place.

....all the great plans of men and mice

Anyway, I had heard a rumor once upon a time that if someone gives birth to a baby during a flight then the baby gets free airticket from that airline for life. Horrible rumor, I must say and will not advise anyone to try it without confirming it.

So, do the Brits give citizenship just on the basis of birth? Or is this baby destined for the green passport? The parents must be so disappointed. I wonder if they had already planned their celebration party for for when the dude grows up to 18 years and sponsors them for US immigration. The whole plan got messed up.

What idiots!

Faisal

I dont think you get UK citizenship by just being born there anymore. US still does it.

How many cases have I seen of people just coming over to deliver here? I know 3 such cases myself.

PIA should sue these people for lying to the airline and causing this mess.

Our people make me sick.

How come we're big time cheaters?

First of all your risking yourself and the baby, by going on the plane, with less oxygen, etc. Then at the same time, because of this diversion, causing the other passengers a delay in time.

Well serves them right. PIA should fine them a lot, because it's not easy doing this, and playing around with the system.

LOL, it would have been nice if she required a sectio to get the baby born…wonderful sight! :hehe::soldier:

UK used to be like USA too. Inact there was a time when if a baby was born on a British Airways flight, it would be given British nationality. They stopped giving nationality on the basis of birth in Britain at the end of 1983. Tough Luck! I know a number of people too who have had relatives come to the US to deliver their babies! Height of desperation I guess.

I think all airlines should ask for a doctor’s note to be provided to make sure that all visibly pregnant women are less than 8 months gone when they intend to fly.

Endangering their own and baby's life and potentially disrupting air traffic for what?

I know some paindoos who've done this too, it usually is the most ignorant of the ignorant Pakis.

Instead of tolerating this the US should change it’s rules and hound these people down and revoke citizenship to discourage this dangerous practice.

Bloody Pakis.

I feel sorry for the mother and the child too how is the family going to live this one down!!!

stupid people. bewaqoofi ki bhee inteha hoti hai!

interesting ...

what a bunch of idiots, all for american citizenship......
when will people learn............

mod,,, not all pakistanis are bloody pakis so mind it.

what you people think will they go back after end of their visa term??
I doubt it very much after all this planning and pain.

Make them pay for this stunt of theirs.
