Pakistan International Airlines and Etihad have announced, and entered into a formal code share starting July 15, 2015. This arrangement will allow both carriers to share routes and reciprocate each others’ bookings.
I feel this will be good because it will open up more routes for PIA (at least on paper) by partnering with Eithad which has a bigger network that’s increasing and newer fleet.
What do you think?
Tried booking on PIA, and part of it shows up as Etihad, and part of it on PIA equipment, same also true vise versa on Etihad website
Etihad is simply awesome and they couldn't adopt PIA strategy but PIA should do if they can. Its really good news for PIA but unfortunately we don't have good brains in PIA as most of the post were filled through political basis.
True about political hiring within PIA. The airline is so overburdened with staff with less than minimum aircrafts. Hopefully with the induction of additional aircrafts underway, PIA can restart some routes in U.S. that were slashed. But until an internal audit is done, it might keep bleeding. There should be alternative employment for the employees so PIA can unload unnecessary hires and operate lean into profitability.
