Well said Hinna. Good for you for cutting through all the BS surrounding this subject. But looks are only part of the equation in the long term. Personality, kindness (yes ppl, it is me, no need to check your monitor), loyalty - there are so many other qualities which also count don't you think?
Yep,but to think otherwise (that is like Hinna )is like putting all your eggs in one basket.Which may be o.k. & and if you are lucky ,you can beat the odds (risk) come out unscathed. But purely on basis of risk reward equation ,you are risking too much if you are going by “look” ONLY.
Try to lower your standards from hunks poster happen to be prevailing at your age of marriage
Hinna, the Prophet(peace and blessings on him) had said it....
A woman is married for four reasons, for her religion, her property, her status, her beauty, so you should choose one with religion. May your hands cleave to dust.
All is the Beloved and the lover is a veil
The Beloved is alive and the lover is dead (RUMI)
, thats not the case. With age, blood goes away from face (it does not remain as fresh while in youth), it makes lots of changes to your face (probably thats why women try to ‘blush’ their cheek/face, put on “make-up”).
Beauty is not forever, while character is forever.

The hadith states to marry one for religion NOT FOR BEAUTY. You misinterpreted the hadith.
Err I'm not saying that I'm the one staring into a guy's face and judging him on his looks. So don't think that I'm that type of person. I would look for a good personality as well as other qualities. I just stated that a lot of us say we don't look at looks but in actuality it does come into mind. It may not be the first thing..but itz there.

I agree ... both are important. Both parties need to be simulated physically and mentally. Otherwise a) you''ll get bored senseless and b) the world population will stop increasing !
