Hey! I hope you guys can help me out here!
I’ve always loved photography and a year ago I got a really nice SLR camera and took pictures at a few friends weddings, portraits and what not (For free of course), I got the permission to put the pictures onto my facebook profile which I did, their friends started asking if I wanted to take pictures at their wedding and of course I said yes. A few months ago I made a facebook-page and uploaded the pictures (with the ‘clients’ permission of course), and it’s been great people have been contacting me to photograph their weddings this summer and I’m extremely excited about that BUT for the past few weeks other pakistani photographers in this area has been sending me nasty massages, saying that I am a cheat and I can not call myself a photographer because I have no training (I’m self taught and I have made that clear to everybody) but the funny thing is that they are self taught as well …
I didn’t go into this thinking I’d get paid to take photographs, it kind of just happened. I have always thought that I could not charge people for something that I wasn’t and that would be like cheating them but over the last year I feel that if I do something that people like and want me to do for them, then why not? I’m not forcing anybody to do anything, these people contact ME, not the other way around.
I’m really in doubt whether or not to continue with this, I hope that they will stop soon.
Or I’ll just lay low for a while and start up again when they stop writing to me or judging med.
Also when I go to a wedding as a photographer I want to dress in a way so that I want take anything away from anyone I almost want to blend in. What kind of clothing would you suggest?
I was thinking flat sandals, long kameez and churidar pajama because that way I can move around the get some decent without feeling uncomfortable. What do you think?
and is there someone on here that has been in a similar situation? Please share your story and advice ![]()
