photography for dummies.....

I recently purchased a D60, and I thought tht was all I needed to take awesome pics, boy was I wrong

I have been looking at lenses for my D60, but there are so many to choose from, an I am a complete dummy when it comes to these things (they all look the same to me :bummer:)

So I thought we have many talented photographers on gs, could they all be so kind, and share their amazing photography skills, and let me know which Len’s they used…

also please share any useful tips…much appreciated

Re: photography for dummies.....

I do not know just like that. What kind of a lens are you looking for? Or even better tell me what kind of photography are you looking to do mostly?

Is your 18-55mm a VR lens? Is it by Nikon or Sigma?

Re: photography for dummies.....

CE what made you buy lens so soon ?

Re: photography for dummies.....

Re: photography for dummies.....

Re: photography for dummies.....

It is not some long distance photography is it or will you require a zoom lens at the wedding?

Re: photography for dummies.....

yeah I will also need a zoom lense :)

pm what have u learnt? post pics!

Re: photography for dummies.....

Get Sigma DG 70-300 mm macro zoom lense. It is better than the 70-300 mm Nikon telephoto one. I know from personal experience and comparison of photos taken from both lenses.

Re: photography for dummies.....

what is sigma? im guessing it's not a nikon make?

will it be safe for me to use this lense on my D60?

Re: photography for dummies.....

Ofcourse it is safe! I use it all the type with my D60. THey got a whole range of D60 compatible lenses! :) Sigma is another brand of lenses and camera equipment etc.

CE - all the photos in this pool were taken with your lens and many of them with a D60 or even D40. So no reason why you cannot shoot the same with your equipment.

The last thing you need is more equipment, yet

Re: photography for dummies…

why would you need a zoom lens at a wedding man? :smack2:

what you have is a decent all-purpose lens. get a good 50mm fixed too, and you’ll have enough glass to shoot some good wedding shots. if you want, you could get a decent external flash as well.

but most importantly, learn how to work your cam. what focal lengths for what shots, all about apertures and shutter speed. otherwise it is just another point and shoot cam, and the results will be similar.

there are plenty of online photography tutorials. or you could buy a book on it. good luck.

^thank you queer.

CE thats what I was going to say learn your cam first. I didn't say because it sounds like you are not quiet there yet.
That what I started doing IT is fun. We can't always relay on cam automatic mode. Manual mode is power!!

Trust me. I will keep up with your posts. When I see you craving to learn that I will tell you how.
For now I am learning it my self. And again its fun.

those pics do look good, but why dont my pics come out like tht :frowning:

to check out all the cute guys?

I was interested in buying a separate flash, what kinda difference does it make?

stoppit what 50 mm lense did u recommend me again?

haha thts the only mode I know. Auto mode

the rest of the modes come out all bleary dont u think :hmmm:
