So I thought I’d visit Pakistan and so after fifteen years (Yep 15!) I finally managed to fly across and experience my beautiful country. And honestly, I feel like moving over here. Yes, even with all the horrible things happening all over this country, there’s something about this land that keeps pulling you back.

I don’t remember much of it, I was only eleven years old the last time I was here but its like a revelation. The sights, the sounds, the colours, the smells (Not always good but still…), the contrast, the people, etc… Its been an incredible experience so far. It is the best place on the planet for Pakistanis.

Yeah its full of corruption, yeah its full of poverty, yeah its full of every other negative thing you can think of but which place isn’t. I don’t care, I’m a Pakistani and I’m proud of that. I’ve lived in Dubai, I’ve lived in London, I’ve lived in Cardiff, I’ve been around the world. I still think nothing beats this land, its our mother.

Anyway, enough talk, on with the photography. My weapon of choice, Nikon D300 equipped with Nikkor 50mm f1.8, Tamron 17-50mm f2.8, Tokina 11-16mm f2.8, Tamron 70-300mm f4-5.6 and Tamron 100mm f2.8 plus SB-800. And for some of the shots my trusty Sony Cybershot DSC-T70, compact but really handy for videos and quick random shots.

Photographs are from places in and around Murree, Kuldana, Baarian, Lower Topa, Bhurban, Kashmir, Muzzafarabad, Islamabad and Margalla.

Oh and which picture did you take using 50mm? Most of the pictures that you posted are landscapes. You wouldn't need a 50mm for that, would you? I hardly could see any DOF, or Bokeh which is consistent with the results that are obtained when using a 50mm lens.

Ok I know what happened. You posted the code for the thumbnails instead of the actual photographs. Will have a look now, properly this time around.

Nice work dude, if you actually did take these. I am impressed with some of them. Especially where the child is holding some rupees. Awesome :)

I was going to Swat next you know, my cousin went there a few weeks before the rains and all that so we planned a trip. But unfortunately, the rains/flooding made that a bit of a stretch this year. InshaAllah I'll visit next year.

Haha! I did actually take these, yeah. I'm a published photographer, doubt me not! If you're from Dubai, you'd know about Hia Magazine and some paid shoots for a few websites (FIA GT, Formula 1, Goodwood Revival/FoS, etc.) That was mostly during my university years for spare cash. But yeah now its just a hobby, not a moneymaker.

Its definitely not ideal, the situation... I feel really sad that I didn't get to visit, I suggest you should when things change.

I request everyone too ponder on whats going on and dig deep. Our country needs us more than ever, even the smallest bit of thought will help!
