You won't find anything like Pakistan's photography in America! i'm going to Pakistan just to get my pictures done! its sucks!!
Re: New York area! I need desperate help to find a great desi photographer comparable
Could it be cause few people want to spend what good photographers ask for here?
Re: New York area! I need desperate help to find a great desi photographer comparable
The good photographers are more expensive in Pakistan these days. Even excellent photographers work differently here, they cater to what americans like not desis.

Videography or Photography
Hey gals
My wedding is just around the corner and there is so much left to do!
Considering the fact that me and my soon to be hubby will be starting med school soon, we are on a pretty tight budget. I don't want to burden my parents with all the little details of the wedding that I want.
For my mehendi night therefore I have decided to go for either a photographer or videographer, since both of them together are costing me too much and I live in New York so the cost of living unfortunately is extremely high here. What would you prefer over the other and why?
Comments, ideas, advice and suggestions most welcome!:)
Re: Videography or Photography
One vote for a photographer here. But then, I love photos! The capture of colour, expressions, even the mood of an event. I'm sure in the future you will want to open an album, look at the pictures and reminisce. If you can, get a family member or friend with a video camera to shoot some of the event too! That way you will have both.
Re: Videography or Photography
^ agreed!
get a professional photographer and hand a compact digi cam with video capability (available for $100) or a handycam to a cousin/friend.
I would definately hire a photographer, but make sure you get one that knows what they are doing otherwise you might as well get a video made.
with photographs you will remember your own thoughts and have your own precious memories however with a video its not as special.
in regards to video, ask a family member or friend with a camcorder to capture things as best as they can and if possible on a tripod to stop shakes and sudden movements

Re: Videography or Photography
Can't we reminisce about videos as well?
Re: Videography or Photography
I agree..get professional photographers, and have 2-3 volunteers shoot the video footage...get it edited later with songs and photo montages!
Affysmooth took the words out of my mouth. :biggthumb
Another vote for a photographer:halo:. I agree with Affysmooth, make sure you can get a really good one as this will be your source of reminisce.
I think that when it comes to videos it’s not so personal. You’ll see very little of just you two in it and a lot more of the guests. Why don’t you just get a friend or family to video tape the marriage. Two seperate videographers would be better just to be on the safe side since they are not professionals! However that would be asking for a lot. Also make sure you rent a tripod so that they will not have a lot of camera shake. If you want a really good video camera, may be you can rent one. I think it’ll cost around $100 to $200 ish to rent. Anyways, it’s a cheaper alternative, but it depends on your budget. If you can’t afford to rent either than any camera would do.
Re: Videography or Photography
GO FOR VIDEO...photos can be taken by your cousins or relatives as well... They may or maynot be able to capture some moments but they will be knowing everyone in a better way and would know what photos can be taken at what time... But the video shud be done by a professional coz he'll be adding songs , doing editing and capturing everything.,
Re: Videography or Photography
I agree with most of the other responses...if I had to choose, I'd go for well-taken, professional pictures over a video.
Photographers/Videographers/DJ in NJ/NY
hey guys!! I'm looking for a really good yet reasonable videographer and photographers to book for the wedding. im not quite sure exactly how many photographers are actually needed at the wedding i was thinking of having two and not sure if one would be enough? i no 1 videographer is good enough but not sure about the photographer.
I was hoping to find and book a female photographer, DJ and possibly a videographer but im not sure how tht would go. I'm familiar with a paki female photographer/videographer in NJ but am a bit iffy about her she did my friends wedding and she did both the movie making and photos at the same time and im not comfortable with tht i need one person who is with and by the movie camera at all times and a photographer with the camera at all times.
Anyway if anyone knows a good female photographer/videographer/DJ in the NJ or NY area please suggest and provide their contact info.
Thanks in advance
