philo-science reading workshops

I had an idea for the S&P forum and wanted to know what you people thought of it and if there was any interest for it.

Would you be interested in having a monthly discussion on a random paper/article/chapter that we have read beforehand?

This is what I had in mind: in the first week of the month anyone can suggest an article from a random scientific/philosophical field, and we’ll upload it here. We’ll have two/three weeks to read it, and in the final week we can start a discussion on it in this forum.

The article needn’t comply to any specific criteria, just make sure it is accessible to a vast audience. The lenght isn’t strict either but somewhere around 2-5 pages should be good enough. And anyone can recommend an article. It can range from Shakespearean works to a recent article in Times.

Sounds like a good idea to me :k:

Hi,

Its certainly a very nice idea. I think time should not be wasted and we can start right now.

I'll suggest following topic.

"The relation of Myth and Philosophy..."

The subject area will include, the understanding of Myth, Its effect on our lives, Recognizing the old age myths, Recognizing the modern myths, Trying to understand philosophy in that context, Looking in to epistemological position of philosophy compared to myth...

Do Tell me if you fellows are interested, If this is a better topic for you then you can post another topic, I'll respond to that then, Most probably my response would be positive.

words, thnx for your suggestion. It sounds like an interesting topic. Could you also have an article or something to read, so when this all starts we will have a focal point to base the discussion on

Myth and philosophy... sounds interesting.

I like the idea. Keep the articles short though. Phil reading can be dense.

Hello,

Its nicer to see the positive responses, Here are some links which will explain the topic.

I may post few other links as well, Other fellows can also post if they know about some better material...

Thanx..

^thnx for those articles.

I'll note these down and we can base our discussion on these articles.

Let's wait for a few more days to see if more ppl are interested, and then we could start soon :)

interesting.

I suggest from Dec 1st we start this and see where we strand
